Catacombs

Catacombs
Mort Skull.png

The Catacombs are the first Dungeon in SkyBlock. It can be accessed through speaking to A sprite icon representing Mort in Hypixel SkyBlock Mort in the Catacombs Entrance or Dungeon Hub.

Players are, by default, required to be in a party of 2-5 players in order to join the Catacombs: giving A sprite icon representing Mort in Hypixel SkyBlock Mort a Saul's Recommendation Saul's Recommendation from A sprite icon representing Adventurer Saul in Hypixel SkyBlock Adventurer Saul allows players to enter the Catacombs on their own. You can set up your own party and invite your friends to join, or you can set up a party through the Party Finder, where you can select different options and requirements for people to join your party.

Overview

[edit | edit source]
  • The Catacombs are a series of floors, each with interconnecting rooms filled with mobs, secrets, traps, and puzzles.
  • After killing all mobs in a room that have a star in their nametag: the room is marked as cleared; and you are guaranteed to drop :

While in the Catacombs, several restrictions are imposed:

Classes

[edit | edit source]

Players can choose one of five Classes: Berserk, Archer, Mage, Tank, and Healer. Each class serves a different purpose and has their own abilities, class passives, and ghost abilities. They are more effective if only one of each are present in a party, although multiple players can choose the same class if they wish.

  • Berserks prioritize dealing as much melee Damage as possible.
  • Archers prioritize dealing as much ranged Damage with a bow as possible.
  • Mages prioritize using their item abilities to deal as much magic damage as possible.
    • A sub-sect of Mage, known as Left-Click Mage, uses their Mage Staff passive to deal high amounts of melee Damage.
  • Tanks prioritize staying near their teammates and diverting as much Damage as possible to themselves.
  • Healers prioritize providing healing and support to their teammates and themselves.

Ghosts

[edit | edit source]

When a player loses all their Health in the Catacombs, they do not die traditionally. Instead, they turn into a Ghost and function as a spectator with unique abilities and limited access to the SkyBlock Menu.

Ghosts can only interact with the environment through their abilities: these abilities depend on their chosen Class, and are listed below.

Rooms and Exploration

[edit | edit source]

The Magical Map Magical Map replaces the SkyBlock Menu while in the main section of a Catacombs floor: it provides a map that shows the layout of the dungeon as it is explored and completed. There are several different rooms in the Catacombs, organized by color:

Room Description
Starter Room The Starter Room is the room where the Dungeon begins: players can ready up and change their class in this room before the run starts. A sprite icon representing Mort in Hypixel SkyBlock Mort can be found here, and he gives players a Dungeon Orb Dungeon Orb on lower floors.
Standard Room Each Dungeon run mostly consists of Standard Rooms. They contain a multitude of mobs and secrets: some mobs will have a yellow star next to their names, marking them as unique. When all unique mobs, or a miniboss, are killed, they will drop an item and mark the room as complete: two of these are guaranteed to be a Wither Key Wither Key, and one of these is guaranteed to be a Blood Key Blood Key.
Puzzle Room The Puzzle Room contains a Puzzle that must be completed for the room to be marked as completed. Some can be failed, and others cannot: they can be reset with an Architect's First Draft Architect's First Draft.
Miniboss Room The Miniboss Room contains a random Miniboss: killing them will mark the room as complete. The miniboss can be a A sprite icon representing Angry Archaeologist in Hypixel SkyBlock Angry Archaeologist, A sprite icon representing Lost Adventurer in Hypixel SkyBlock Lost Adventurer, A sprite icon representing King Midas in Hypixel SkyBlock King Midas, A sprite icon representing Shadow Assassin in Hypixel SkyBlock Shadow Assassin, or A sprite icon representing Frozen Adventurer in Hypixel SkyBlock Frozen Adventurer.
Trap Room The Trap Room consists of several traps and obstacles that must be overcome. They contain several secrets that must be all completed in order to mark the room as complete.
Fairy Room The Fairy Room consists of a large tree in the middle, with several A sprite icon representing Fairy in Hypixel SkyBlock Fairies surrounding it that drop a Revive Stone Revive Stone when killed. A healing pool can be found near the tree.
Blood Room The Blood Room is the final room that must be completed before the boss room can be accessed. A sprite icon representing The Watcher in Hypixel SkyBlock The Watcher will summon lots of Undead that must be all killed in order for the room to be marked as completed: on higher floors, they will receive modifiers and some will take the appearance of previous bosses, like A sprite icon representing Bonzo in Hypixel SkyBlock Bonzo, A sprite icon representing Scarf in Hypixel SkyBlock Scarf, the A sprite icon representing Spirit Bear in Hypixel SkyBlock Spirit Bear, or Sadan's Giants.

Exploration and Rewards

[edit | edit source]

Dungeon Score

[edit | edit source]

Dungeon Score is a value comprised of four categories: Skill, or the number of deaths and puzzles failed in a run; Exploration, or the percentage of the floor completed and the number of secrets completed; Speed, or the time taken to complete a run; and Bonus, which varies depending on the floor and active modifiers, like A sprite icon representing Paul in Hypixel SkyBlock Paul's EZPZ perk.

  • 0-99 Score grants a D.
  • 100-159 Score grants a C.
  • 160-229 Score grants a B.
  • 230-269.4 Score grants a A.
  • 270-299 Score grants a S.
  • ≥300 Score grants a S+.

For more in-depth calculations, see Dungeon Score.

Dungeon Reward Chests

[edit | edit source]
  • When a floor is successfully cleared, player(s) can spend Coins to unlock different tiers of Dungeon Reward Chests, with each tier increasing in price and quality of loot.
  • The total Score achieved at the end of a Dungeon run dictates which Dungeon Reward Chests are unlocked. Completion of the floor unlocks the Wood, Gold, and Diamond chests; an A unlocks the Emerald chest; an S unlocks the Obsidian chest, and an S+ unlocks the Bedrock chest while on Floor V or higher. While on The Catacombs - Floor VII, you unlock an additional chest per phase of the boss fight completed.[Confirm]
  • When obtaining an item classified as an RNG Drop, the following dialogue is displayed:
-----------------------------------
RNG DROP! <username> just found a <item>!
-----------------------------------

Dungeonizing and Essence

[edit | edit source]

Essence is a currency used in the Catacombs that can be spent on upgrades at various NPCs, used to upgrade items, and convert items to Dungeon items in a process colloquially known as 'dungeonizing'.

By converting an item to a Dungeon item, which can be seen through the tag at the bottom of an item's lore, it will grant increased stats while in the Catacombs. The stat boosts depend on your  Catacombs level, the number of Star Upgrades the item has, and the number of Master Star Master Stars applied.

Standard Star Upgrades can be obtained on a variety of items that are not limited to being Catacombs-exclusive; however, Master Star Master Stars can only be applied to Dungeon items.

Stat Bonuses

[edit | edit source]

The stat bonuses from your  Catacombs level and Star Upgrades are calculated separately and stack additively on top of the final state increase, only modifying the stats of the item itself.

While in the Catacombs, each Star Upgrade grants a +10% stat boost, adding up to a total stat boost of +50%; each Master Star grants a +5% stat boost on top of the initial increase, totaling to a +75% increase in stats across the board.

General's Medallion additionally grants a +1% stat boost per digit, up to +5%.

Example: Catacombs 27 [+255%] + 5 stars [+50%] + 2 Master Stars [+10%] + 1000 Secret Counter (4 Digits) [+4%] = +319%, while in Master Mode.

This boost multiplies eligible stats by (100% + 319%)×.

Some Stats are not boosted by every source, such as Attack Speed, Crit Chance, and Ability Damage. These stats do not receive the  Catacombs Level stat boost, but can receive Stars, Master Star Master Stars, and General's Medallion digits boosts.

Item Quality

[edit | edit source]

Dungeon items that drop from Dungeon Mobs and Minibosses will drop with different base stats depending on the floor it was dropped on and a randomly generated number that dictates the stat increase percentage.

There are up to 10 possible 'tiers' of base stats, dependent on the floor the item was dropped on.

Tier Floor
Standard Master Mode
1 The Catacombs - Entrance
The Catacombs - Floor I
2 The Catacombs - Floor II
3 The Catacombs - Floor III
4 The Catacombs - Floor IV Master Mode - Floor I
5 The Catacombs - Floor V Master Mode - Floor II
6 The Catacombs - Floor VI Master Mode - Floor III
7 The Catacombs - Floor VII Master Mode - Floor IV
8 Master Mode - Floor V
9 Master Mode - Floor VI
10 Master Mode - Floor VII

The bonus stats of dropped items can reach up to a +50% increase, which will result in its Rarity being upgraded.

Dungeoneering

[edit | edit source]

Dungeoneering is a Skill that is leveled up through completing runs of the Catacombs. As players complete or fail Dungeon runs, they will increment  Catacombs XP and eventually upgrade their  Catacombs skill. Each level grants increased Health and SkyBlock XP, and grants a multiplicative stat multiplier on Dungeon items of up to +485%.

Additionally, the first 5 completions each day award a 40% bonus to  Catacombs XP. Failed runs do not count towards this bonus.
