Dungeon Reward Chests are loot chests that appear at the end of runs in The Catacombs. They are the source of rewards for defeating Bosses in Dungeons.

Overview

[edit | edit source]

At the end of a Dungeon run, several chests will appear. Three chests will always spawn, with up to three additional chests spawning if players perform exceptionally. Players cannot open chests if they do not reach their 2nd Class Milestone.

Money will be taken from the Purse first before taking money from the Bank. If there is not enough money in the Purse, then players in a Co-op will have their Dungeon chests take away money from their Personal Bank account first. However, if a player does not have enough money in their personal bank, then the chest will take money from the co-op bank instead.

Only one chest can be claimed per Catacombs run, unless a Dungeon Chest Key Dungeon Chest Key is used, which allows two to be claimed. Chests can be re-rolled once using a Kismet Feather Kismet Feather.

Unclaimed chests can be accessed by speaking to A sprite icon representing Croesus in Hypixel SkyBlock Croesus in the Dungeon Hub. These only last for 72 hours, and there is a cap of 60 runs.

Chest Types

[edit | edit source]

Chests do not appear in The Catacombs - Entrance. Unlike the Wooden, Gold, and Diamond chests, the additional chests have Dungeon Score requirements. Chest prices vary depending on the floor and the items the chests contain.

The Bedrock chest is only obtainable in Floor V, Floor VI, and Floor VII.

In The Catacombs - Floor VII while in Master Mode, completing the entire run will grant every type of chest, regardless of score. Similarly, failing a run but still reaching The Wither King will grant every type of chest, except the Bedrock Chest, regardless of score.

Loot Rolling Process

[edit | edit source]

Dungeon Reward Chests are rolled using a system based on two important types of numbers: weight and quality.

When a chest first spawns, a chest quality value is generated for it, based on its loot table's starting quality and various upgrades the player may have. This value acts like a currency, as every item in the loot table also has quality cost.

Each item also has a value called weight, which determines its relative chance to be rolled for out of all eligible items. For example, if the weight of all items adds up to 100, an item with a weight of 10 has a 10% chance to be rolled. Items are not eligible if they've already been rolled or there is not enough leftover quality. Essence entries with non-zero weight and quality can roll multiple times.

Entries will repeatedly roll until there are no more eligible entries leftover. Then, if existent, the Essence entry with 1 quality and 0 weight will repeatedly roll, until all the leftover quality has been depleted. Finally, guaranteed entries will be added, such as Undead Essence Undead Essence, Wither Essence Wither Essence, and sometimes certain Shards.

Any possible rare Dyes and Music Discs roll after these steps are completed.

Chest Quality

[edit | edit source]

Each chest on every floor has a base chest quality. This is used to determine the items the player receives in the chest.

Quality Upgrades

[edit | edit source]

Chest quality can be buffed through multiple methods. This can increase the chance for certain items to appear, due to them gaining more opportunities to be rolled.

Quality Formula

[edit | edit source]

InitialQuality=BaseChestQuality×SPlusMultiplier

IntendedQuality=(InitialQuality×T)+B+C

ActualQuality=(IntendedQuality×T)+B+C

where:

Note: x indicates rounding down, while x indicates rounding to the nearest integer (.5 rounded up).

Chest Loot

[edit | edit source]

Master Mode Loot

[edit | edit source]
  • The modifiers for the Treasure Talisman Treasure Talisman, Treasure Ring Treasure Ring, Treasure Artifact Treasure Artifact, Boss Luck Perk perk and Hideongeon Shard Catacombs Box Attribute all apply twice. This is due to the quality formula running once and being saved to a field, which can be seen in the API when looking at chest data, and then again using that same field as an input.
    • This also means the API's chest data shows a different quality value than the actual quality value used to roll the loot.
