SADAN_GIANT_1
MASTER_SADAN_GIANT_1Sadan is the BOSS of The Catacombs - Floor VI, and as a character appearing in the dungeon journals Aftermath and The Eye. His status is the Necromancer Lord.
Boss Fight
[edit | edit source]- Woke Golem
- Sleeping Golem
0–1x Ancient Rose
SADAN_GOLEM_1
MASTER_SADAN_GOLEM_1Sadan's boss fight takes place in a large, tall hall with two wings, one of which the players emerge from. When the players enter, 16 dormant
Terracottas stand along the hall.
Sleeping Golems reside in the main chamber of Sadan's room, and attacking them will turn them into
Woke Golem. Above are four cages, each with a Giant inside it, and a large section beneath containing a larger Giant.
Phase 1
[edit | edit source]Health: 14M (Normal)
250M (Master)SADAN_STATUE_1
MASTER_SADAN_STATUE_1During Sadan's first phase, he reanimates several
Terracottas that will start to damage the player, dealing melee and ranged damage. These will attack the players for 2 minutes, displayed by a timer labeled Sadan's Interest Meter: killing a
Terracotta will reduce this timer by 1 second.
Once killed,
Terracottas will turn into a skull on the ground. After 10 seconds, they will respawn where they died and attack the player until Sadan's Interest Meter is depleted.
Phase 2
[edit | edit source]My giants! Unleashed!
Four different giants, being
The Diamond Giant,
L.A.S.R.,
Bigfoot, and the
Jolly Pink Giant, will drop from cages in the sky to attack. Each giant has a different attack and has a chance to appear as Watcher Undeads in The Catacombs - Floor VII.
The Diamond Giant will damage players with the Sword of 1,000 Truths.
L.A.S.R. will fire at players with a the L.A.S.R Eye Beam, dealing increased damage over time.
Bigfoot will use Stomp on players, dealing high amounts of damage.- The
Jolly Pink Giant will use Boulder Toss on players, throwing a large boulder at players and dealing large damage.
Phase 3
[edit | edit source]If only you had become my disciples instead of this incompetent bunch.
Maybe in another life. Until then, meet my ultimate corpse.
A cutscene will play where Sadan will then merge with his "Ultimate Corpse", The Giant One, and become a Giant himself. A hole will open in the center of the hall, and a hook will appear to lift the Giant out. Falling into the hole instantly kills the player who fell in and all Tanks in the team (because of Tanks' passive ability Diversion). After this cutscene, the hole closes, allowing players to safely walk over it again.
Sadan has 40M HP (800M HP in Master Mode) and has all the perks of the previous Giants combined. Players win the fight by defeating Sadan in this Giant form. Unlike the previous giants, The Giant One does not have knockback immunity.
Strangely, his human form appears after the fight instead of dying as a Giant.
Collection

Dialogue
[edit | edit source]| Condition | Dialogue |
|---|---|
| Boss Fight Start | [BOSS] Sadan: So you made it all the way here... Now you wish to defy me? Sadan?! [BOSS] Sadan: The audacity! I have been the ruler of these floors for a hundred years! [BOSS] Sadan: I am the bridge between this realm and the world below! You shall not pass! |
| 1 Giant Killed | [BOSS] Sadan: You've managed to kill a Giant! Good luck with the rest of them! [BOSS] Sadan: Wow, one Giant down already? You guys are good! [BOSS] Sadan: How many players does it take to kill a Giant? [BOSS] Sadan: You killed my weakest Giant! |
| 2 Giants Killed | [BOSS] Sadan: Uh oh! Half of my Giant creations have bit the dust! Whatever will I do? [BOSS] Sadan: 2 of my Giants down?! No matter, these last two are tough! [BOSS] Sadan: That Giant was weak! I clearly screwed up during the necromancy process. |
| 3 Giants Killed | [BOSS] Sadan: I'm starting to sweat! [BOSS] Sadan: Down to 1 Giant! [BOSS] Sadan: Whoops! There goes my third Giant! |
| First Golem Woken | [BOSS] Sadan: Interesting strategy, waking up my Golems. Or was that unintentional, [player]? [BOSS] Sadan: You weren't supposed to wake up that Golem, [player]! [BOSS] Sadan: My Terracotta Army wasn't enough? You had to awaken a Golem on top, [player]?! [BOSS] Sadan: Those Golems will be your undoing, [player]! |
| Golem Woken | [BOSS] Sadan: How many more of my Golems will you disturb, [player]? [BOSS] Sadan: Reckless humans! You should know by now my Golems do not want to be awoken, [player]! [BOSS] Sadan: All my Golems want is some peace and quiet! Can you not, [player]?! |
| If player's summon
hits an asleep golem |
[BOSS] Sadan: How did that Golem wake up? Carelessness from you adventurers, no doubt. |
| All Golems Woken | [BOSS] Sadan: Thanks to [player], all of my Golems have been awoken! Quite the feat! [BOSS] Sadan: Wonderous! Not one sleeping Golem was left unperturbed by you reckless humans! Thanks, [player]! [BOSS] Sadan: I've never seen such carelessness in my years as a Necromancer! So little regard for my Golems, and even less regard for your own lives! Blame [player]! |
| Phase One | [BOSS] Sadan: My Terracotta Army is using some of the finest souls - old warriors and wizards! [BOSS] Sadan: You will be humbled, reckless humans! [BOSS] Sadan: Can you at least enjoy my science, pushing the boundaries of Necromancy! [BOSS] Sadan: Corpses are deficient, full of weaknesses. Statues are stronger, faster, and easier to repair. [BOSS] Sadan: Can't you see that there is no winning? This room will be your tomb. [BOSS] Sadan: So much effort, for what? You should have joined us instead, Necron will cure this world! [BOSS] Sadan: Terrible...terrible..., [BOSS] Sadan: I'm growing tired of this folly. My Giants are restless. [BOSS] Sadan: It's about time we see what my Giants can do... |
| Phase Two | [BOSS] Sadan: Rumor has it those are dead Precursors, legendary civilization. [BOSS] Sadan: My first time using them, extremely interesting! [BOSS] Sadan: Which one is your favorite? Those laser eyes...beautiful! [BOSS] Sadan: This is what peak Necromancy looks like! [BOSS] Sadan: Boulders, lasers, stomping, and giant swords! Oh my! |
| Phase Two Starts | [BOSS] Sadan: ENOUGH! [BOSS] Sadan: My giants! Unleashed! |
| Phase Three Starts | [BOSS] Sadan: You did it. I understand now, you have earned my respect. [BOSS] Sadan: If only you had become my disciples instead of this incompetent bunch. [BOSS] Sadan: Maybe in another life. Until then, meet my ultimate corpse. [BOSS] Sadan: I'm sorry but I need to concentrate. I wish it didn't have to come to this. |
| Phase Three Master Mode Giants Revive | [BOSS] Sadan: You thought I'd fall for the same tricks as those before me? Not today! |
| Boss Wins | [BOSS] Sadan: It was inevitable. You are fighting forces beyond your imagination. [BOSS] Sadan: No adventurer can see what lays beyond this floor. [BOSS] Sadan: Rest in peace. |
| Final Kill | [BOSS] Sadan: NOOOOOOOOO!!! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!! [BOSS] Sadan: FATHER, FORGIVE ME!!! |
Strategies
[edit | edit source]Lore
[edit | edit source]- In 1531 AE, after zombies began leaving The Catacombs a human king sent an expedition with 3 mages to investigate. Mages were the Royal Inscriptionist, who kept a four-volume journal about the expedition until his death, Solomon and Sadan.
- During the expedition, Sadan noticed an Eye looking directly at him, but no one else seemed to notice it, so he kept it to himself, since it didn't seem hostile. It appeared 3 times throughout the first and second floor, then disappeared. However, on the third floor, he felt a different sensation: he sensed something coming even before more talented Solomon. Sadan managed to escape the massacre caused by the Wither that appeared and killed General Dan, then he felt the familiar sensation of being watched. He pulled out his sword, asking "What do you want from me?", The Watcher came out of the shadows and questioned him [1]
- Some time after his interaction with the Watcher, he became Necromancer Lord and guarded the Sixth floor of Catacombs. He learned that his parents were powerful in Necromancy, which is why Watcher was interested in him.
- In 1532 AE, he learned that his father was still alive, if you could call it that. He was a member of Necron's Wither Army - Storm. But his father didn't care for him, which made Sadan angry, and he swore that he would develop a technique to surpass even a Wither with his own abilities.
- According to Mort's description of Sadan, he succeeded, but it is unclear if the Wither in question was Storm, his unknown professor or a different Wither entirely.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- The boss appears to have an egotistical and self-centered nature, possibly caused by his father, Storm not caring about him and him choosing power rather than humanity. He shares his ego with his father, and they both seem to make up with each other when faced with death, as their last words reference each other.
- This boss used to be a part of the Expedition team as one of at least 3 mages. Because his family was skilled in Necromancy, The Watcher saw his potential to be a servant of Necron. In the journal Aftermath, it is said that Solomon (One of the mages on the Expedition team) was also pulled aside by Necron and executed by Storm for him to gain immense power his third wither head.
- The sword that the Diamond Giant wields is actually called Diamante (which translates to "Diamond" in Spanish and Italian).
- His head has the same texture as the Professor's, except recoloured.
- The Terracotta mob is a reference to the terracotta army in the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum in China.
- The name Sadan could be a reference to the devil, Satan and his number 666. This could also explain why Sadan is the floor 6 boss in the Catacombs.

- ↑ "What are you? Why are you following me?" "Special." the loud noise echoed in Sadan's head. "I’m special? What do you mean?" "Your mind… Hard to read." "Read… My mind?" "Your name." "What, why do you want to know?" "Your parents, who are they?" "I… I never knew them, why are you asking this?!" It asked for [his] name again. As it got closer, [he] could feel its presence intensify. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD, I’LL KILL YOU!" Sadan felt weakened, and collapsed on the ground. "So your name is Sadan, I see..."
