The Backwater Bayou is a  Fishing Location and the first island that can be accessed from the Ship Navigator. It is unlocked by reaching  Fishing V (5) and speaking to Captain Baha in the  Fishing Outpost.

When the player first enters  Backwater Bayou, they will be greeted with the following message:

The Backwater Bayou contains Chapters, which consist of 38 tasks for the player to complete. Completing all these tasks rewards the  Pearl of the Swamp, which grants a permanent +1  Treasure Chance. These chapters can be accessed by speaking to Jonesy.

Roddy can be found here, who can help apply Rod Parts to Fishing Rods. To unlock his Abiphone Contact, one must give him a  Torn Cloth.

Hotspots appear in water to grant buffs and new Sea Creatures when the player's bobber is within.

Junk can be caught while a  Junk Sinker is equipped on a Fishing Rod. It replaces all Treasure caught. The following items are classified as Junk:
