Arachne

Arachne is a BOSS spawned in  Arachne's Sanctuary, on the  Spider's Den. She has two difficulties depending on her summoning method. Her weaker form has 20,000, and can be summoned with 4 Arachne's Callings, similar to dragon fights. She also can be summoned with one Arachne Crystal, spawning a stronger version with 100k. Arachne can summon Arachne's Broods, which have 4,000, or 20,000. Defeating Lesser and Greater Version of Arachne for the first time rewards SkyBlock XP.

Summoning

To summon the boss, one must place four Arachne's Callings (to spawn the Lvl 300 version) or one Arachne Crystal (to spawn the Lvl 500 version) on the altar made of endstone and sandstone located at -282, 49, -178. After placing the four fragments or the crystal, the spider will spawn after a short delay, and displaying a line of dialogue explaining how much of a mistake the players have made.

Behavior

After it spawns, Arachne will run around, damaging players around it. It is recommended to use an Aspect of the End to escape upon noticing your hindered movement.

The player needs to be at least Combat level 15 to fight a Tier 2 Arachne.

Arachne has a damage cap of 1,000 per hit. Upon dropping below 50% and 20% Health, Arachne splits into a number of Arachne's Broods (10 for 50% and 20 for 20%). These spiders, like Arachne, are immune to magic damage and arrows. Once all of the brood are killed Arachne will respawn. Arachne has a chance to respawn as a Runic variant.

If Arachne has not damaged a player within roughly 6 seconds, she will use Venom Shot on whoever she is currently targeting. This debuff poisons players, lowering them to ~1% of their maximum health every few seconds. A Cow Hat can nullify the effect. This does not affect shields/absorption (i.e. a Necron's Blade Variant's Wither Impact/Wither Shield). To counter this, using Wither Impact/Wither Shield about 1 second after taking a Venom Shot will allow you to regenerate health (i.e. with Life Steal) while your shield is active. If you do not have access to a variant of the Necron's Blade, it is recommended to disable Dodge/Agility potions to allow Arachne to damage you, which means she won't use Venom Shot. Sometimes Arachne will 'refuse' to hurt you (likely a bug). It should also be noted that the Vaccine Talisman, Vaccine Ring and Vaccine Artifact do not protect the person inflicted with the venom shot debuff from getting poisoned. Additionally, the venom effect does not expire on death, meaning on your way back to the boss room you are still at risk of dying to spiders along the way.

If Arachne is not defeated within 10 minutes of spawning, the message "Arachne is bored with your feeble attempt!" appears in the chat and she will then despawn.

Arachne can also be Charmed to obtain Arachne Shard and +300 Hunting XP. The amount of Attribute Shards dropped is affected by Hunting Fortune.

Bugs

If Arachne is defeated next to a wall, only some of the loot will appear on the ground. The rest will spawn on the next "floor" up. In order to get the rest of the loot, you will have to travel directly upwards. It is most commonly located above ground.
- Loot from this boss can spawn one or two blocks above the void as well.

Trivia

Arachne is a character from Greek and Roman mythology. According to the Ovid's version of the myth; human woman and a talented weaver, Arachne, claimed that her skill was greater than the one of Minerva (Roman version of Athena. Both goddesses have weaving as part of their divine domain.), without acknowledging that her skill, at least partially, came from the goddess. Disguised as an old lady, the goddess warned Arachne not to boast and compare oneself to a god, and that she should ask for the goddess' forgiveness. A weaving competition ensued, with the goddess weaving a tapestry, displaying different myths of gods competing against humans and them being punished for it, while Arachne displayed stories of gods misleading, abusing, tricking and seducing mortals. The goddess was enraged by this depiction and the fact it was better than her own, so she destroyed the work and hit Arachne thrice in the head with a shuttle. Embarrassed by this, Arachne tried to hang herself, but the goddess took pity on her and turned her into a spider, so that she, and her descendants could weave freely.
- "Arachne" or ἀράχνη is also the Ancient Greek word for spider.
The Livid Dagger's 2x Damage from backstab bypasses the damage cap.
Ferocity is not useful against Arachne as it has a damage cap. (It still triggers the animation and sound of Ferocity)
In each phase, Arachne has chance to be Runic, this doesn't necessarily last the whole fight, as after next Brood phase she again has chance to be runic.
The Arachne Shard drop in the boss loot is not affected by Hunting Fortune, however it is also possible to obtain a shard from charming Arachne, which is affected by Hunting Fortune.
