Crystal Nucleus

The Crystal Nucleus is a location in the  Crystal Hollows, mainly used to deposit collected Gemstone Crystals from expeditions.

Tasks

When the player first enters  Crystal Nucleus, they will be greeted with the following message:

■ Place all Crystals at the statues.

Location

The Crystal Nucleus is always in the middle of the  Crystal Hollows 512, Y, 512. Players can travel to main areas of the map using each of 4 quadrants, as well as the  Magma Fields directly below the platform. After the required Crystals (Jade, Amber, Amethyst, Sapphire, and Topaz) are delivered to their respective statues, a Crystal Nucleus Loot Bundle will appear in front of the vault opposite of the Topaz Crystal Statue.

Crystals will remain placed if you leave the game. They cannot be picked up once placed, nor can duplicate Crystals be obtained until all 5 Crystals are placed.

Loot

Each Crystal Nucleus Bundle contains :
- 14-20 pieces of random loot;
- 1 of every Fine Gemstone found in the  Crystal Hollows (e.g., not including Opal, Onyx, Aquamarine, Citrine, and Peridot);
- 800 HotM EXP. If the player is already Heart of the Mountain 10, this is replaced with a random amount between 2,000-7,000 of either Mithril Powder or Gemstone Powder.

The number of drops can be increased in the following ways, up to a range of 16-22 rolls with a 65% chance for another one:

by 1, using Mole Pet;
by 1, using Diamond Essence Shop perk "High Roller";
by 1 at a 5%→50% chance, using the Bigger Box attribute ( Hideoncave Shard);
- which can be boosted up to 1.20x, using the Echo of Boxes attribute ( Cuboa Shard),
  resulting in a 6%→60% chance from the Bigger Box attribute ( Hideoncave Shard);
  - which can be boosted up to 1.50x, using the Echo of Echoes attribute ( Tiamat Shard);
    resulting in a maximum multipler of 1.30x from the Bigger Box attribute ( Hideoncave Shard);
    resulting in a maximum chance range 6.5%→65% chance from the Bigger Box attribute ( Hideoncave Shard).

Using Bazaar Prices:

The cost of 1 Precursor Apparatus, 1 Jungle Key, and 1 Goblin Egg, minus the sell price of the guaranteed Fine Gemstones drops, means each run costs ??? coins.
The cost of 1 of each Automaton Part, 1 Jungle Key, and 1 Goblin Egg, minus the sell price of the guaranteed Fine Gemstones drops, means each run costs ??? coins.

There is also a 0.0002% (1 in 500,000 rolls) for a Jade Dye.

RNG Meter

The Crystal Nucleus RNG Meter increases the drop rate of certain items from the list below.

Placing all crystals at the Crystal Nucleus gains 1,000 Nucleus XP for the meter. Retroactive completions from before the release of the Crystal Nucleus RNG Meter grant 250 Nucleus XP rounded towards the nearest thousand.

Items in the Crystal Nucleus RNG Meter have predefined amounts of XP required to guarantee to roll.
The amount of XP is roughly based on drop chance. The XP values can be read in the list below.
When a bundle is rolled, the selected item has an increased weight with the following formula. If enough XP is stored within the Crystal Nucleus RNG Meter, the selected item is guaranteed to drop.

Trivia

The Jasper and Ruby Crystals are not used to complete the Crystal Nucleus but may be used to forge their respective Perfect Gemstones.
The Crystal Nucleus is the only location in the  Crystal Hollows that generates at a set location.
The center is positioned at 513, Y, 513 and roughly encloses a space from 465, 64, 465 to 561, 188, 561, meaning it is not centered in the  Crystal Hollows.
Crystals used to be reclaimable after placing in the Crystal Nucleus. If no item was picked up from the Loot Bundle, players could swap lobbies and replace the last crystal, rolling for new rewards. This was known as Nucleus Rerolling.
It's possible to enter the vault by mining in through the top or from behind.

Bugs

The RNG Meter for the Crystal Nucleus increases its target rates on the 1st roll only. Because there are between 14 and 20 rolls by default, this means the RNG Meter is much worse than intended for this purpose. Thus, it is recommended to not select a target as to not "waste" stored meter progress.
