A Scatha is a mob that has a chance to spawn when mining  Hard Stone in the Crystal Hollows.

A Stoneworm or Scatha has a 0.167% (1 in 600) chance to spawn mining  Hard Stone in the Crystal Hollows. There is an 80% (4 in 5) chance for the spawned mob to be a Stoneworm, and a 20% (1 in 5) chance for a Scatha to spawn. There is a 30s cooldown after a Scatha or Stoneworm spawns.

The  Armadillo Pet and Mole perk do not prevent spawning by themselves, however the conditions mentioned above must still be met.

After digging out a suitable tunnel, breaking the blocks at the player's eye level on the side can still trigger Scathas spawning. Breaking the blocks below foot level will also spawn Scathas.

While spawning, Scathas make a unique squelching sound 3 times, alerting players of their presence. Additionally, the following message appears in chat:

Scatha is  Elusive and therefore always drops  Scatha Shard and +500  Hunting XP, but can also be put in a Black Hole. The amount of Attribute Shards dropped is affected by  Hunting Fortune.

A Scatha slowly slithers through the tunnel it spawned in, turning back if it hits a block or gets too far away. It has 10  Health. They start off with a chain of 10 segments, which decrease by one each time they are hit until killed. Each hit deals 1 of damage to the Scatha.

If no blocks are present under the Scatha when it moves, the Scatha will float through the air. It does not go up or down and stays true to the Y-Axis it spawns at.

• Scatha is a reference to the Scatha from The Lord of the Rings.
• Scathas and Stoneworms are unaffected by Mayor Derpy's DOUBLE MOB HP!!! perk.
• Players must hit the head of a Scatha at least once in order to be eligible for loot share. Hitting another part does not count.
• Huntaxes do not work on Scathas, presumably due to them being hit-based instead of using regular Health.
