Hypixel SkyBlock 0.27 - Torrhus Canyon & Critter Safari

Updated: August 4, 2026

Hello! Today, for the first time since Hypixel SkyBlock's release, we are adding two new islands to the game in one of the largest updates SkyBlock has ever seen. Sound exciting? Then read on for all the details!

► Torrhus Canyon

[edit | edit source]

Torrhus Canyon is the second Foraging Island comprising the region known as Galatea. Accessible from a launch pad in the Moonglade Marsh upon reaching Heart of the Forest 4, there is much to do and see here!

➥ Torrhus Chapters

[edit | edit source]

Upon entering the island for the first time, look for Helia just down Torrhus Path. She will introduce you to the Torrhus Chapters, which you can use to inform your exploration of the island.

After meeting Helia, you can progress down the Spring Path towards Miria - the second Starlyn sister and host of this island's Starlyn Contests! She'll explain to you how her contests work, as well as how she's entered a business partnership with the Critter Safari, before telling you to go chop some wood.

➥ 3 New Collections

[edit | edit source]

Speaking of wood, Torrhus Canyon is home to three new collections - Helix Log, Ruby Veilshroom, and Honeycomb. Each of these collections has some upgrades to offer to the gear you first obtained on the Moonglade Marsh, so be sure to check them all out!

Helix Logs are obtained from cutting the many Helix Trees that are native to Torrhus Canyon. These trees are the toughest you've come across to this point, so be sure to have a lot of Sweep! Honeycomb, on the other hand, is primarily gathered from the various Honeyhives found around the island. Be careful, though - you never know what you might find when you stick your hand into a Honeyhive! Last but not least, Ruby Veilshrooms can be obtained from killing Torrhus Sea Creatures up in Torrhus Springs.

➥ Torrhus Springs

[edit | edit source]

Torrhus Springs, one of the tallest points of the entire island, is an open spring basin that is frequented by seasoned divers. If you can withstand the pressure, dive on down and you'll find yourself surrounded by fascinating Critters of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Cast your rod in, and you might just catch some Torrhus Sea Creatures.

Keep an eye out for the various offshoot caves found throughout the depths - divers have reported finding one cave housing an entire ant colony, another that is home to a strange type of fishing hotspot, and more... If you can make it all the way to the bottom, perhaps you'll even find something no other diver could?

➥ Heart of the Forest Tier 8

[edit | edit source]

Heart of the Forest now goes up to 8 tiers! An overall revamp to the tree has been done with the goal of moving some important perks further down the tree for new players to use sooner (those changes are listed further down the thread), and whispers have been split into two types:

  • Forest Whispers -> Gained from cutting Fig Trees and Mangrove Trees. Used to upgrade HOTF 1-3 perks.
  • Desert Whispers-> Gained from cutting Helix Trees. Used to upgrade HOTF 4-8 perks.
    • Designer Note: Players with in excess of 12,500 Forest Whispers phave[sic] had them converted to Desert Whispers at a 1:1 rate.

➥ Charm Chance

[edit | edit source]

Charm Chance is now an official Hunting Stat! As is the case with most "chance" stats, such as Sea Creature Chance and Treasure Chance, the stat scales from 0% -> 100%, making you more likely to drop Attribute Shards from viable mobs as it increases.

► Critter Safari

[edit | edit source]

Speaking of hunting, the Critter Safari is now open for business! Grab your ticket from Miria, travel to the Safari Entrance on the right-hand side of Torrhus Canyon, and get on the next blimp to travel to the game's first dedicated Hunting Island!

➥ Entry

[edit | edit source]

Players may redeem one of their Safari Tickets - which are obtained from placing highly in Miria's Contests - to enter the Critter Safari alone or with a group of up to three friends.

Once inside, players are free to go together or alone as they explore the Safari's four biomes (Icy, Canyon, Forest, and Haunted), armed only with a set of Critter Capsules that they can use to catch any Critters they come across. When caught, Critters will drop Attribute Shards, which are sent to your Hunting Box for you to claim once you have left the Critter Safari.

➥ 150~ New Attributes!

[edit | edit source]

Not only do both Torrhus Canyon and the Critter Safari boast more unique mobs than any other island in the game, but every mob species on those islands also drops a unique attribute shard for you to collect!

In addition to all of the new mobs, there are also plenty of new shards obtainable only through attribute fusion. With so many shards also comes many new shard families - here's a shard from the crime family, for example!
As a result of all of these new Attributes, the total amount of Attributes across the game has approximately doubled. For now, we have kept Jade Dragon's "Apex Predator" perk untouched, but it may need to be adjusted to be flat Sweep instead of percentage-based when we inevitably add even more Attributes in the future.

➥ Safari Milestones

[edit | edit source]

Before entering the Critter Safari for the first time you will be given the Safari Belt. This nifty piece of equipment is the only thing you can take into the Safari and, though it doesn't look like much right now, it has the potential to be great.

As you catch more and more Critters in each biome, you will progress through the Safari Milestones. Each milestone reached will grant bonus stats to your Safari Belt, quickly turning it from a useless item into the best belt in the game for Hunting and Foraging:

  • Canyon Milestones: Increases Rarity and grants Hunting Wisdom
  • Haunted Milestones: Grants Hunting Fortune
  • Icy Milestones: Grants Cold Resistance
  • Forest Milestones: Grants Foraging Fortune

You can check your Safari Milestones progress anytime by talking to Andrea by the Safari Entrance in Torrhus Canyon.

➥ Sparkling Critters

[edit | edit source]

All Critters have a base 1/4,096 chance to instead spawn as a sparkling variant - something which is indicated by a different color scheme, a "SPARKLING" prefix, and a sparkling trail that follows the critter around.

All Sparkling Critters grant 10x the rewards of a regular Critter and drop a Rainbow Feather, which can be used to increase the current level of any pet by 1 (cannot bypass the cap). Additionally, players who have already completed the base Critterdex will gain access to Tobias' Sparkling Critterdex, where they can take on the optional challenge (no SBXP attached) of trying to catch all 37 sparkling critters in exchange for some Cosmetic rewards along the way.

Will you be the first to catch all 37 Sparkling Critter variants?

► SkyBlock OST

[edit | edit source]

While exploring Torrhus Canyon you'll get to hear the gorgeous soundtrack for the island composed by Oscar Garvin (you may know him as the composer for Hytale). He has also composed other songs that have been added for the Hub, the Garden, and the Moonglade Marsh. These are not note block songs, the recently added SkyBlock Resource Pack has allowed us to add fully orchestral songs to SkyBlock!

Make sure you have SkyBlock Music enabled in your SkyBlock Settings and to turn your Jukebox/Note Blocks volume up so that you can hear the OST!

► Bestiary Changes

[edit | edit source]

Following the conclusion of the recent SkyBlock Designer Q&A, we have had a lot of discussions about the place of the Bestiary within SkyBlock. Since its initial release as part of SkyBlock 0.11.2, the Bestiary has been through several permutations - starting off as something that was borderline impossible to max but, with the introduction of SkyBlock XP, slowly transitioned into something that was more feasible to complete.

➥ Bestiary Issues

[edit | edit source]

However, there were still many problems with the Bestiary that quickly became apparent to anyone trying to max it:

  1. The Bestiary is usually the last aspect of a piece of content that you will max out - it inflates how long you need to play a piece of content for.
  2. Early-game Bestiaries (e.g. Lapis Zombie) were inherently unhealthy due to forcing veterans to compete with new players for kills.
  3. While some Bestiaries had been modernized and weren't actually too difficult, there were many outliers that still demanded far too much player time.
  4. By the time you max out a Bestiary, getting all of its rewards, you're completely done with that content, so you never get to reap the bonus Magic Find, Coins, XP Orbs, and other rewards on that mob.

➥ Resulting Bestiary Reductions

[edit | edit source]

As a result of the issues identified above, we have made the decision to slash Bestiaries across the game by a massive amount. Some examples of the type of changes you can expect to see include:

  1. Lapis Zombie decreased from 3,000 -> 200
  2. Lonely Spider decreased from 25,000 -> 4,000
  3. Butterfly reduced from 1,000 -> 100
  4. Dragons reduced from 1,000 -> 250
  5. COMMON Sea Creatures decreased from various -> 1,000
  6. MYTHIC Sea Creatures decreased from 100 -> 50

If you wish to see the entire changelog for the Bestiary changes, which affects the majority of mobs in the game, CLICK HERE.

➥ Changing our Bestiary Philosophy

[edit | edit source]

Going forward, bestiaries will be designed to be more lenient - we will look for players to max their bestiary at a reasonable point when playing content so that they can then use the bestiary bonuses - such as the magic find and coin bonus - to improve their rates when grinding for a mob's materials or RNG drop.

What we mean is that, just because all Mythic Sea Creature bestiaries now cap at 50 kills, it doesn't mean future Mythic Sea Creatures will be designed so that you've obtained all of their materials and RNG drops by the time you reach that 50th kill. The material grind for each creature can still vary significantly - the goal is simply to make bestiaries more consistent, so they're something you'll typically complete early in the overall grind rather than as the very last milestone.

We apologize to anyone who ended up taking the time to grind out an older Bestiary just for it to be slashed - we will be more mindful when designing Bestiaries going forwards and the reduced brackets should make things significantly more reasonable by default.

► Texture Adjustments

[edit | edit source]

Following community feedback, we have adjusted the textures for the following items:

  • Terminator (pictured above)
  • Aspect of the Void

► What's Next?

[edit | edit source]

Here's a little sneak peek at what we have planned to release in the near future:

➥ The Ministers Update

[edit | edit source]

The Minister Update is currently deep in the QA phase. Once ready, it will be put onto the Alpha Network for an extended period of testing and iteration.

➥ Mob Level Improvements

[edit | edit source]

Mob Levels are not very accurate within SkyBlock. For example, both the Zealot Bruiser and the Kalhuiki Tribe Member are currently Level 100, despite the Tribe Member having 15,384× more Health and dealing 320× more damage per hit.

Our improvements to mob levels aim to automatically generate coins, skill XP, XP orbs, and mob levels for every mob in the game that accurately reflect how difficult the mob is to kill.

This is done by taking into account contextual factors such as a mob's health, damage, and place within the game's progression (for example, whether it is a Boss or Miniboss, whether it is a Sea Creature and, if so, which tier it belongs to, and so on), though manual rewards can still be set.

The goal here is to ensure players are appropriately rewarded for defeating stronger enemies, which should make areas of the game such as early/mid-game fishing & combat better for Skill XP, and for the visual "mob level" above every mob's head to slowly increase linearly as you progress through the game.

➥ QoL Bundle

[edit | edit source]

We are always working on QoL changes to make the game easier for everyone. This upcoming bundle contains key changes such as making bulk-buying from Jax easier, reducing the crafting recipes for Exportable Carrots and the Blood Donor Artifact, and more!

And that's all for today! Grab your most trustworthy axe and we'll see you over on Torrhus Canyon!
