Huntaxes

Huntaxes are a type of  Hunting tool. They are used to hunt creatures by lowering their  Health to below 10%, allowing them to be captured with Pocket Black Holes. Huntaxes deal little damage, but can hold weapons to absorb some of their stats. They also prevent the player from killing mobs that they are hunting.

A Huntaxe can be used to Hunt creatures with an Attribute Shard. They have two abilities:

• Absorptio allows the Huntaxe to absorb up to 25% of the basic Combat stats ( Damage,  Strength,  Crit Damage, etc) of any melee weapon.
• Vis Temperata caps the  Damage of a Huntaxe up to 50% of the enemy's max health and prevents the user from killing the enemy.

• You are not required to use Huntaxes to hunt mobs with Pocket Black Holes.
  • This is important when hunting mobs with high  Health that the Huntaxes cannot reasonably deal with. A notable example are Ghost.
• Each tier of Huntaxes allows to bring mobs HP to the 10%  Health threshold in 6/5/4/3/2 hits.
• The Hunter's Fang attributes grants up to +10% of the stored weapon's stats to the Huntaxes.
  • Echo of Hunter, paired with Echo of Echoes can increase this amount to 13%, up to a maximum of 38% on  Prime Huntaxe - Nex Titanum.

• While holding a Huntaxe, all damage dealt by the player becomes non lethal.
  • Notably, this allow the usage of certain passive damage sources, such as the Blazing Aura ability of the  Blaze Armor and  Frozen Blaze Armor.
• When putting a weapon to store in the Huntaxes with its ability Absorptio, only  Damage,  Strength,  Crit Chance and  Crit Damage are copied. Enchantments (other than Critical and Chimera) will have no impact on the performance of the Huntaxes.
  • To this end, the  Tormentor is commonly agreed upon to be the best-in-slot item to store in the Huntaxes.
  • If the player has multiple Huntaxes, all of them will have the same item.
• Players can use  Hot Potato Books, Rugged and Woodsplitter to make their Huntaxes stronger.
  •  Jade Dragon Pet's Forest Power perk and Rosemary's Axed perk also affect Huntaxes.

• Before the perk being reworked,  Golden Dragon Pet's Gold Power worked on Huntaxes.
• Despite the ability claiming to only be affected by base stats, Absorptio copies stats from all sources. Because of this, the same item can be affected by 2 different reforges.
