Bacte

Bacte is the second boss in the Rift Dimension. It requires the Living Timecharm. It can be fought in the  Colosseum.

Spawning

Bacte starts out as a Slime named B in the center of the  Colosseum. The player can start the boss fight by punching all of the Globowls in the arena into B.

B and the Globowls will respawn after 3 minutes and 30 seconds counting from boss disappearing from arena.

Behavior

While in the boss fight, the player will die if they go outside the arena for more than about 3 seconds. Bacte will despawn if no players are in the arena.

Bacte is invulnerable for most of the boss fight. There are 5 phases of the fight, which start when Bacte has 1,000 Health, 800 Health, 600 Health, 400 Health, and 200 Health. At the start of each phase after the first, the next letter of Bacte's name will be revealed. During each phase, Bacte will root an increasing amount of tentacles into the ground, which can only be damaged by Globowls. They have 4 in the first 3 phases, and 3 in phase 4. After a tentacle is destroyed, a Blobbercyst will spawn at its location. After each tentacle and Blobbercyst is destroyed, Bacte will shrink down, and can be damaged by players, until the next phase starts or Bacte is killed.

During the phases, Bacte will use the following attacks:

Spikes Pandemoglob (Spike) - Creates spikes of slime that rise from the floor of the arena, taking 20s Rift Time from players they come in contact with and knocking them high into the air.
Malign Sliceline (Slice) - Creates a border in a half or quarter of the arena (the Safe Slice), and starts a countdown of a few seconds. If the player is not within the area when the countdown ends, they will lose 30s Rift Time.
Slimecopter - Creates a line of slime that spins around Bacte. It takes 10s Rift Time from players it comes in contact with and knocks them into the air.

Bacte will use more attacks the further into the boss fight the player is.

Phase 1: B will not use any attacks, and spawn 1 tentacle.
Phase 2: Ba will cast Spikes Pandemoglob, before spawning 2 tentacles.
Phase 3: Bac will cast Malign Sliceline, then Spikes Pandemoglob, before spawning 3 tentacles.
Phase 4: Bact will cast Slimecopter, which will reverse 4 times and speed up 3 times, before slowing down. It will then cast Spikes Pandemoglob and Malign Sliceline, before summoning 4 tentacles, which all have 3.
Phase 5: Bacte will cast an unnamed spell, which will turn the arena into Slime Blocks, and the player will begin to bounce very high. They can left click to use their Blaster, which deals one damage to tentacles. Bacte will use Spikes Pandemoglob, Malign Sliceline, and Slimecopter, before spawning 6 tentacles, with each having 20. Blobbercysts will not spawn during this phase, but Globowls sometimes can due to a bug.

Once the tentacles are rooted into the ground, the frequency of Malign Sliceline attacks is reduced, and players have 8 seconds instead of 5 seconds to get to the safe slice.

Tips

It is highly recommended to gather a few people beforehand, as it greatly speeds up the battle.
Blobbercysts take 100 damage if a Globowl is pushed towards them. If done consistently, this is quicker than melee, and can be used to kill them without walking towards them.
Server-hopping is a valid method of gaining fragments quicker, at the cost of bits.

Trivia

Bacte is a clear reference to Dante.
According to Elise, either Bacte or Dante may have originated from the other. Additionally, Shen may have found Dante in the Rift.
Using the command /killbacte, a reference to /killdante, will make the following message appear in chat:

Everyone who qualified for the fragment reward rolls the chance for the dye, no matter the damage or boss stage of entering the arena.
Completing the fight rewards 6,000 Motes, and killing the Bacte mob rewards 4,000 Motes, even through lootshare for a total of 10,000 Motes.
