Zealot

Zealots are a type of Enderman found exclusively in the  Dragon's Nest.

Spawning

Zealots spawn in predetermined locations in the  Dragon's Nest. A wave of 16 Zealots spawns every 11 seconds, except in the period between the death of an Ender Dragon and the respawning of the Dragon Egg. Spawned Zealots have a 2% (1 in 50) chance to spawn holding an Ender Chest. These Zealots drop additional loot upon being killed.

Dragons

An Ender Dragon can summon large waves of Zealots when it is weak and the battle has gone on for a long time. These Zealots are hostile towards players.

Summoning Eye drop is not affected by Looting.

Zealot can also be Charmed or put in a Black Hole to obtain Zealot Shard and +75 Hunting XP. The amount of Attribute Shards dropped is affected by Hunting Fortune.

Behavior

Naturally spawning Zealots are neutral mobs like Enderman; they do not attack the player unless they are attacked first, or a player looks at their head when provoked. If the player angers them, they will attack the aggressor and regularly teleport behind them to evade attacks. Zealots spawned from Ender Dragons are always hostile. They have 13,000 Health and deal 1,250 Damage.

Zealots, like Enderman, cannot be damaged by Arrows from most Bows or harmful Potions; attempting to shoot one results in the Zealot teleporting away. However, magic projectiles such as those from the Frozen and Glacial Scythe, Jerry-chine Gun, and Explosive Bow can still damage them. The bows obtained from Enderman Slayer, being the Juju Shortbow and Terminator, can also damage Zealots.

When an Ender Dragon is defeated, all Zealots in the Nest, including Special Zealots, immediately despawn.

Special Zealots

When a player kills a normal Zealot, there is a 1/420 (0.2381%) chance of a Special Zealot spawning close to the killed Zealot. Special Zealots always drop a Summoning Eye and are  Elusive mobs.

When a Special Zealot spawns, the player who contributed to its spawn will hear a Wither sound effect and the following chat message:

A special Zealot has spawned nearby!

The player who contributed to the Special Zealot spawning will always get the Summoning Eye once the Special Zealot dies, even if another player killed it. If there was no place in the inventory for the Summoning Eye to go to, the Summoning Eye will be put in the stash of the player.

Special Zealots drop the Special Zealot Shard instead of Zealot Shard and is a guaranteed capture when the killer has a Salt active. Note that the player who spawned the Special Zealot will not receive the shard if another player killed it, only the killer receives the shard.

Increasing Spawn Chances

Multiple factors can increase the chance of a Special Zealot spawning:

If the Zealot takes more than 1 hit before dying, the chance of a Special Zealot spawning is increased by about 11.1%.
After 420 Zealots (or 378 Zealots if the Zealot took more than 1 hit to kill) are killed without a Special Zealot spawning, the spawn chance doubles.
The LEGENDARY Enderman Pet at Level 100 will also increase the odds by 25%.
The Zealuck Dragon Essence Shop perk increases the chance for a Special Zealot to spawn by 2-10%.
Tracking further increases the chance for Special Zealots to spawn (for example, 5 Tracking is a 5% increase).

End Stone Protector

The End Stone Protector spawns in a lobby when 5,000 Zealots have been killed since the last boss. Every 1,000 kills, a message is displayed in chat and more layers of the Protector emerge.

Contributing up to 100 Zealot kills to the milestone increases the quality of loot from the Boss.

Trivia

Special Zealots were once rumored to have a 0.1% drop chance for a Phoenix Pet instead of 0.0001% (now confirmed to be 0.00002%). This has since been confirmed to be false by the admins.
Zealots spawn at 16 predefined locations every 11 seconds when at the optimum lobby size.
