Ghosts are invisible Charged Creepers found in  The Mist.

Ghost can also be Charmed or put in a Black Hole to obtain Ghost Shard and +250 Hunting XP (+2,500 Hunting XP when Charmed). The amount of Attribute Shards dropped is affected by Hunting Fortune.

Behavior

Ghosts are hostile to any nearby players. They have 1M and move slowly. They have a periodic AoE attack of a 4 block radius that deals more damage the closer they are to players. They deal 1000 Damage along with 100 True Damage; if the player gets within 1 block of them, the damage is doubled. They also do not take knockback.

Ghosts can take damage only from melee attacks. Most magic abilities, bows (including Bonemerangs), and damage over time effects (like the Phoenix Pet's Fourth Flare and the Wither Skeleton Pet's Death Touch) do not affect Ghosts. This does not include enchantments such as Fire Aspect and Venomous. Additionally, this restriction does not apply on the ☀ Stranded game mode.

Certain equipment, such as Flaming Fist or Gauntlet of Contagion can damage ghosts despite not being melee attacks.

Their name tags and health bars do not show. This includes any indication of Runic ghosts, making their only giveaway being increased Health and Runecrafting experience upon death.

Tips

Certain Attribute Shards, such as the Duplico Shard and Driftling Shard, boost Damage against Ghosts by up to a total of 60%.
- Other Attribute Shards, such as the Hideonwall Shard and Chuckwalla Shard, grant 0.5% Magic Find per level up to 10 Magic Find.
- The Brineling Shard and Shyworm Shard boost +4 Defense per level up to +80 Defense.
The Lonesome Miner Heart of the Mountain perk and the LEGENDARY or higher Mithril Golem Pet's Subterranean Battler ability significantly increase damage dealt to mobs on mining islands, including Ghosts.
The ability of Crimson Armor can be used to reach 1 million damage easier.
Using a Medium Pocket Black Hole and a Huntaxe is currently the optimal way of gaining Hunting XP outside of fusions, though survivability can prove problematic without healing from enchantments such as Drain or Vampirism.

Trivia

The first time the player kills a Ghost, they will receive the "Ghost Buster" Achievement.
If the Ghost drops 1,000,000 Coins, the following message will appear in chat: The ghost's death materialized 1,000,000 coins from the mists!
Ghosts used to drop Bag of Cash which could have been sold to NPCs for 1,000,000 Coins and, unlike the cash itself they drop now, was affected by Magic Find
Ghosts was the first mob to implement loot sharing feature.
Ghosts were often used as a method of killing off AFK Goblin or Ice Walker grinders as well as trolling players by leaving a Ghost at the Dwarven Mines spawn point, killing players as they joined the lobby, many times causing huge losses of coins and potion effects. This was patched on April 25, 2022, when Ghosts were made to despawn past a certain Y coordinate, making it impossible to fish them out of the Mist.
- Currently, fishing rods do not have the ability to even lift ghosts up from the ground, with the only way of elevating them now being via the usage of a Pocket Black Hole on a low health ghost.
Ghosts recover 10% of player's Health when killed, making them the only mob to recover Health on defeat without an ability causing them to do so.
