The Broodmother is a hostile Mini-Boss that can be found in the  Spider's Den.

It can also spawn on ☀ Stranded islands.

The Broodmother spawns at the very top of the  Spider Mound. It will spawn exactly 10 minutes after the time the previous Broodmother is killed.

The status of the Broodmother changes to reflect how much time is left until she respawns.

• Slain: Between 10-9 minutes left.
• Dormant: Between 9-6 minutes left.
• Soon: Between 6-3 minutes left.
• Awakening: Between 3-1 minutes left.
• Imminent: Less than 1 minute left.
• Alive: The Broodmother has spawned.

The Broodmother acts like a normal Spider, attacking any nearby players.

The Broodmother spawns four or five Cave Spiders on death. This is the only place they spawn on Public Islands.

• The Broodmother is a very weak boss, often compared in general difficulty to the Revenant Horror Tier I.
• Killing the Broodmother for the first time gives the Achievement "A good spider is a dead spider", worth 10 Achievement points.
• Damage to the Broodmother is capped at 300 per hit for most weapons.
• The Broodmother, unlike other bosses, can appear in a Runic version, which gives it 24000  Health.
• When waiting for the Broodmother to spawn, it is recommended to wear a Slime Hat, mount a Rock Pet or possess an Intimidation Artifact, to avoid being pushed off the cliff by Spider Jockeys, Silverfish or other Spiders.
• In ☀ Stranded mode, Broodmother spawns with 100000  Health, but has the damage cap removed.
