 Mining Speed is one of the player statistics. It is a measure of the block-breaking time.

Any item that increases mining speed by a base value (such as +40) can be thought of as a decrease of the base breaking time.

 Mining Speed does not affect  Private Island,  The Garden,  The Park, Hub Island, The Farming Islands, or the Rift Dimension. These places use the Vanilla Mining Speed.

There is no known cap for  Mining Speed, however the soft cap limits the breaking of a block to at least 4 ticks.

To determine the amount of time it takes to break a certain block relative to mining speed, this formula can be used:

Mining Time = [(Block Strength * 30) / ( Mining Speed)]

Mining time is measured server-side in ticks, (0.05 seconds), so to get mining time in seconds use:

Mining Time = [(Block Strength * 30) / ( Mining Speed)] / 20

To determine the amount of  Mining Speed needed to hit the soft cap of a given block, the following formula can be used:

Soft cap = floor[(20/3)(Block Strength)] + 1.

The soft cap can be bypassed by having enough  Mining Speed to break a block instantly, or in 1 tick. In this case the block will be mined instantly.

To instantly break a block, mining speed needs to be 30x higher than a block's strength, or 60x if it's an ore.

Notes:

• Block Strength should not be confused with Breaking Power.
• Ping may cause inconsistencies with the actual time it takes to break a block.

Players can increase their  Mining Speed from the following methods:

• Holding a Pickaxe, Drill, or Gemstone Gauntlet, which grants base Mining Speed.
• Applying Enchantments such as Efficiency, Flowstate, and Lapidary.
• Applying basic or Reforge Stone Reforges, such as Excellent, Fleet, Ambered, or Heated.
• Wearing Mining Armor and Equipment that grant Mining Speed.
• Using Accessories such as the  Titanium Relic,  Haste Artifact, or Power accessories socketed with an Amber Gemstone.
• Unlocking and upgrading Mining Speed perks in the Heart of the Mountain, including Mining Speed, Mining Speed Boost, Sky Mall, and Speedy Mineman.
• Equipping certain Pets or Pet Items.
• Applying Amber Gemstones to compatible slots.
• Applying upgrades such as  Polarvoid Books,  Divan's Powder Coating, or an  Amber Power Scroll.
• Using Haste effects.
• Activating the Eager Miner perk from the Gold Essence Shop.
• Participating in Mining Events:
  • Gone with the Wind grants between 0-600  Mining Speed depending on the direction faced.
  • Better Together grants +250  Mining Speed per player in the same zone, up to 5 players.

Players are given the Mining Fatigue Effect while in public islands (not private islands, The Farming Islands, The Park, the Rift Dimension, and Dungeons) to remove the vanilla mining behavior (client-side mining animations) and let the server handle the animations itself. It does not slow down or remove Mining Speed, but is in fact necessary for the Mining Speed implementation.

It also provides additional aesthetic benefits:

• No breaking/mining animation (except for the swinging) for blocks that cannot be broken
• No ghost blocks due to mining blocks
• No block rollbacks
• Mining animation synced up with the server's speed (server's TPS)
• Blocks don't turn into air before getting replaced by bedrock (or another block)

This, however, does not fix known bugs with ghost blocks in private islands and Dungeons, as there is no Mining Fatigue Effect in these places.

• Ore-specific mining speed increases (see Mithril Golem Pet and Mithril Pickaxe) are not affected by Mining Speed Boost.

By getting all of the following, the highest possible Mining Speed can be achieved. The values in this section are exclusively for the Mining Speed visible in the SkyBlock menu's player stats. Conditional effective Mining Speed that does not increase this displayed stat, such as ore-specific bonuses, is excluded.

This setup grants 9205  Mining Speed without temporary multipliers, potions, events, deployables, random daily buffs, or other temporary effects. The  Blue Cheese Goblin Omelette is already included in the listed Mining Speed and Speedy Mineman values by increasing their levels by 1.

For the highest temporary value, the following changes and bonuses are added to the 9205  Mining Speed setup:

• Replace Ambered with a recombobulated Heated Divan's Drill while at 100  Heat, increasing its reforge bonus from +200  Mining Speed to +470  Mining Speed (+270  Mining Speed net).
• Reach 200 consecutive blocks with Flowstate III (+600  Mining Speed).
• Receive the Mining Speed buff from Sky Mall (+100  Mining Speed).
• Have 5 players in the same zone during Better Together with Quartz Speed 10 (+2500  Mining Speed).
• Replace the permanent Haste III effect from the  Haste Artifact with Haste IV (+50  Mining Speed net).
• Activate an  Amber Power Scroll (+30  Mining Speed).
• Deploy a  Will-o'-wisp (+100  Mining Speed).

These bonuses raise the additive total to 12855  Mining Speed. Activating Mining Speed Boost at level 3, which includes the bonus level from the  Blue Cheese Goblin Omelette, grants +300%  Mining Speed and raises the displayed theoretical maximum to 51420  Mining Speed.
