Changelog/2025/June 23
Hello,
The Foraging Update is here, and it's the most technically ambitious update in the history of Hypixel SkyBlock.
Today, we're proud to finally reveal it to you. Thank you for your patience!
EDIT 8:20pm EST: We have disabled Tree Gifts and Black Holes while we investigate some issues. We expect to have these resolved shortly; thanks for your patience.
EDIT 9:10pm EST: A fix for the above issues are now rolled and should be re-enabled now; for any issues please report them at hypixel.net/bugs! Loot Share for Shards will remain temporarily disabled until we have a more permanent fix.
► Latest Version
[edit | edit source]This is the first SkyBlock update to fully utilize mechanics from the latest versions of Minecraft.
To access The Park and Galatea, you'll now need to play on Minecraft 1.21.5 or higher .
Don't worry; the rest of SkyBlock remains fully accessible on older versions.
This is just the beginning, but here's what you can already find on the new islands:
- New blocks
- New mobs
- New particle effects
- New sounds
- New swimming mechanics
- And more!
This update lays the foundation for something much bigger. We're now able to ramp up the complexity and quality of our content using the latest Minecraft tech.
If you're interested in how far we're taking it, stay tuned! We'll be releasing a separate dev blog soon covering resource packs, custom menus, models, and more.
► The Park Revamp
[edit | edit source]
We're planning to gradually upgrade all islands to the latest version — and, with each one, improve its gameplay and design. The Park is the first island to receive this treatment.
Here's what's new:
- The main Foraging tutorial quest has been completely revamped and streamlined.
- The Foraging Collections have been improved.
- There are now early game Foraging Armors and new items tied to the new progression system.
- Meet Molebert , a new NPC with a short quest for curious players.
► Galatea
[edit | edit source]
The Moonglade Marsh is the first of three planned Foraging Islands of Galatea, each with its own trees and mysteries.
➥ Heart of the Forest
[edit | edit source]When you first arrive, you'll meet Hina , who grants you access to the Heart of the Forest, the core of Galatea's progression system.
Just like the Heart of the Mountain, you'll level up this system, unlocking perks and upgrades as you go.
Its main currency is Forest Whispers , earned by cutting down trees across the island.
➥ Swoop
[edit | edit source]At the entrance of the village, you'll meet Swoop , your first Foraging guide.
He teaches you the basics of tree cutting on Galatea and tracks your Foraging Milestones, rewarding you as you chop your way through the island.
➥ Trees Toughness, Styles and Gifts
[edit | edit source]- Sweep is a new stat that determines how many logs you can cut in a row, similar to the Treecapitator effect.
- Toughness is a property of each tree that reduces the impact of your Sweep stat, requiring more Sweep to take down tougher trees.
- Style defines the correct order in which each tree should be chopped. Cutting them the wrong way is inefficient.
There are two types of trees on the first island of Galatea:
Fig Trees
[edit | edit source]- Toughness: 7
- Style: Start with the Trunk , then finish with the Branches
- You can throw your axe into the air to cut branches! On Foraging islands, all axes can be thrown, though thrown strikes only cut half the usual logs.
Mangrove Trees
[edit | edit source]- Toughness: 50 (We recommend at least 50 Sweep before attempting these!)
- Style: Start with the Branches , then the Trunk , and finally the Roots
Once a tree is fully cut down, any player who contributed at least 10% to its removal will receive a Tree Gift .
These contain:
- Foraging EXP
- Heart of the Forest EXP
- Forest Essence
- Unique Collection Items
- And sometimes... surprises.
Working together with other players to fell trees is not just helpful; it's rewarding.
➥ New Collections
[edit | edit source]The Moonglade Marsh, Galatea's first island, introduces 6 brand new collections tied to specific resources found on the island.

At the end of each day, she'll reward you based on your total score, including a special currency called Agatha's Coupons, which you can spend in her personal shop.
➥ And More!
[edit | edit source]Galatea is packed with secrets and systems waiting to be uncovered.
Here are just a few more things to look out for:
- Pressure , a new mechanic that will make your underwater exploration challenging.
- Beacons, that you will need to turn to grant island-wide buffs to everyone on the island.
- Boosters , new modifiers that enhance your Foraging items with unique properties.
- Coral , the enigmatic witch of the Fish Family , and many more unique NPCs.
- Combat monsters , both on land and deep underwater.
- The first Starborn Temple.
- ...and plenty of Hunting Creatures that roam the wild
► Hunting
[edit | edit source]The release of attributes brought a wave of new possibilities, but also several design challenges, as outlined in previous design threads.
With the Hunting update, we introduce a brand new skill that adds layered gameplay, fresh progression, and most importantly, transforms attributes into permanent buffs tied to your profile.
➥ David Hunterborough
[edit | edit source]In the village of Galatea, you'll quickly meet David Hunterborough, a brilliant hunter who will teach you the fundamentals of this new skill.
Progress far enough under his guidance, and he'll reward you with his prized David's Cloak , the most powerful cloak in the game.
➥ Hunting Tools
[edit | edit source]Hunting revolves around tracking and capturing a wide variety of unique creatures, each with their own Shard to collect. There are multiple ways to hunt and acquire shards, depending on the species:
- Some creatures feature unique, custom hunting mechanics
- Others can be caught using Lassos or Fishing Nets
- Certain shards are obtained via shops, crafting recipes, or the Fusion Machine
- Some creatures are hunted through combat, using specialized Hunting Weapons
It may sound like a lot but don't worry; it quickly becomes intuitive as you progress.
➥ Attributes and Menus
[edit | edit source]When you obtain a creature's Shard, it will be stored in your Hunting Box, found within the Hunting Skill Menu. From there, you can Syphon the shard to unlock or level up the corresponding Attribute, permanently.
- These new Attributes work similarly to the old system, but they are no longer tied to items
- All active Attributes can be seen inside the Attribute Menu, also within the Hunting Skill interface
- If you already own attributes from before, you can use the Transfer System to obtain the new shards
- Players with "Godrolls" will receive Ananke Feathers, based on the value of that Godroll.
➥ Fusions
[edit | edit source]Finished leveling an Attribute? Your extra shards don't go to waste.
Head over to the Fusion Machine and start experimenting, simply select a shard, pair it with another, and see what combinations appear.
- Each fusion will present 1 to 3 possible outcomes, including exclusive Fusion-only shards
- Most fusions will require 5 copies of each shard, so plan accordingly
- There's an element of discovery here, and some rare combinations may lead to unexpected rewards
Fusions are still ongoing large balancing changes, and we plan to finalize the details within a week.
➥ Kuudra
[edit | edit source]The Kuudra loot table has been overhauled to fit this new ecosystem.
Key changes:
- Significantly increased Crimson Essence gains
- Existing Crimson Isles shards remain obtainable, alongside new exclusive shards
- 1 to 3 Kraken Shards will now drop from every Paid Chest , based on the fight's tier
- Ananke Feathers have been added, powerful items that can progress any RNG meter
- Enrager is no longer obtainable, however there is a new item: the Tormentor , rare, but reasonably attainable
- The Hellstorm Wand has received a full revamp
- and more!
► More changes
[edit | edit source]➥ Changes to items
[edit | edit source]- The Diver Armor is now unlocked in the Sea Lumies Collection, and grants Pressure Resistance.
- Emperor Skulls now craft a new Accessory line.
➥ New accessories from the Mountaintop
[edit | edit source]The Respiration Accessory line can now be crafted using Puff Cruxes from the Mountaintop.
► What's Next
[edit | edit source]As usual, the list below is not exhaustive, it's just what we're comfortable sharing at this point.
Foraging Follow-up patch and future islands
We have already a few improvements planned and being developed for the Moonglade Marsh, and will release patch notes in the following week alongside eventual balancing changes.
The Hunting Update changed the whole Attribute system and we will be monitoring the effects closely during the following weeks. In particular, Crimson Isle attribute-centric content will be revisited with necessary updates to them.
While we have already planned out the second and third islands of Galatea, production is on hold until we have gathered enough feedback from this update.
Mythological Ritual v2
We are looking to release an update in the near future that will modernize Diana's Mythological Ritual event, adding some new mobs, drops and, obviously, the mythic griffin pet.
Slayer Content
Back at the start of the year, we promised all of you some slayer content. While we ended up reallocating some of our resources to the Foraging project, we took that time to design a brand-new slayer that we hope to release later on this year. All of our slayer content is now either in the later stages of development or awaiting QA.
Year of the Witch
The Year of the Witch looks to be the third event of its type, this time centered around Alchemy.
As part of the Year of the Witch event, players will need to seek out particular mobs, killing them to gather ingredients. Ingredients can be used to gain permanent buffs or as currency in the Year of the Witch Shop. Also...we will be adding a Seal Pet with this update!
Lotus Atoll
The Lotus Atoll is our next fishing island and will be accessed via the Ship Navigator. It's going to contain some Trophy...Frogs?
Pet Crafting Changes
One of our upcoming goals is to improve the new player experience of SkyBlock. One of the ways we are planning doing this in the near future is through moving some Pets earlier in collections and making them cheaper to craft. For awhile we've wanted to remove randomized Pet crafting in the game, and we decided to take this opportunity to do that.
All crafted Pets will now always start at Common rarity, but their early Kat upgrades are being changed to be incredibly cheap and quick to compensate. No more waiting for Diana!
As always, we truly hope you will enjoy this update.
Thanks for helping us shape the future of SkyBlock.
