A Phantom Rod was a LEGENDARY Fishing Weapon dropped from the Phantom Fisher. It required Fishing XXI (21) to use.

Ability: Phantom Impel LEFT CLICK Terrify hooked enemies pushing them away and dealing massive damage.

The Phantom Rod could be used as a fishing rod and weapon. Both fishing and sword Enchantments could be applied to it.

The Phantom Rod's ability terrified mobs hit by the hook, dealing Melee Damage and knocking them back. This had no cooldown beyond Attack Speed.

This item could be upgraded with Undead Essence. It had no other requirements when converted.

When the Phantom Rod was being removed in the version 0.22 Alpha, the Hypixel development team stated under the second day's changes that there are plans to add a new Sinker which applies the Phantom Rod's ability to any fishing rod. The Sinker with Phantom Rod's abilities has not currently released yet, as the team said it might take a while as it might necessitate nerfs to either the Phantom Impel ability or the Shredded Line in order to make them both compatible and balanced.^[1]
Although the weapon is removed and no longer usable even for players who already have it, the Phantom Rod is still used by the Phantom Fisher, which uses the old vanilla fishing rod texture rather than the current broken fishing rod texture.
This was one of two fishing weapons in the game, the other being the Shredder.
This weapon could stunlock Thorn, similar to the Bonemerang.
Endermen were immune to any attacks from the Phantom Rod.
The Phantom Rod was the only item in the game that could be dungeonized to increase Sea Creature Chance.

The Phantom Rod was a very powerful weapon against dungeon mini-bosses such as Lost Adventurers and Angry Archaeologists, but also gained time to finish the Terminals in The Catacombs - Floor VII, Goldor Fight. Once hooked, they could be locked in place by left clicking and have significant damage done to them.
- The rod could be used to easily kill Watcher summons from afar, allowing the player to avoid their attacks.
This weapon paired well with low Effective Health dungeon builds, as it would turn melee classes into ranged classes. It could be a low-budget option for Berserkers, and could completely negate the use of a Baby Yeti Pet.
This weapon was a great weapon to deal damage to Arachne. By hooking her with the Phantom Rod, and spamming left click, damage could be dealt through the cobwebs. This also made a player a lot safer, as the player could keep distance from her while dealing damage.
- The Phantom Rod did not work nearly as well on the Tarantula Broodfather due to the boss constantly slam-dunking into the player. Additionally, it prevented it from dealing damage to the player frequently enough, so that the boss rapidly regenerated Health.
