Mining Spread is a Mining Stat. It is the chance for the player to automatically mine adjacent blocks when mining Blocks, Ores, and Dwarven Metals.
For values of 100 or under, Mining Spread represents the chance for an adjacent block to be mined. For example, a Mining Spread of 14 means that there is a 14% chance of an additional block being mined each time a block.
For values over 100, the first digit (for a 3-digit value), or first two digits (for a 4-digit) value represent the number of adjacent blocks that are guaranteed to be broken. The following two digits represent the chance of an extra adjacent block being mined. For example, a Mining Spread of 145 means that it is guaranteed for 1 adjacent block to be mined, with a 45% chance of an extra being mined as well, whilst a Mining Spread of 1231 would guarantee 12 blocks to be mined, with a 31% chance of one extra one.
At the cap of 10,000 Mining Spread, the player is guaranteed to automatically mine 100 extra blocks each time they mine a block.
Additionally, Mining Spread will not break blocks beneath the player's feet, even if there are no other options. This is ignored if the player broke a block with positive (downwards) pitch. While this helps in most cases (namely with Hard Stone), it can be confusing in other cases, with mining spread "not working" at times. Blocks mined from Mining Spread will also grant Skill XP.
By getting all of the following, it is possible to obtain a maximum of 1263 Mining Spread while mining blocks.
When mining 
Hard Stone, an extra 401.76 Mining Spread can be achieved by leveling the Mole perk in the Heart of the Mountain to level 200. Additionally, the 
LEGENDARY Snail Pet's perk "Slimy Reach" gives 400 more bringing the maximum Mining Spread for Hard Stone to 2064.76 Mining Spread.
