Suspicious Scrap

A Suspicious Scrap is a RARE item that can be used in the Fossil Excavator to uncover treasure.

Obtaining

Mining

Suspicious Scrap has a base chance of 0.5% (1 in 200 blocks broken) chance of dropping when mining Ores, Dwarven Metals, and Gemstones while in  Glacite Mineshafts. Each time a Suspicious Scrap is obtained, the chance to obtain another one is halved.

The chance can be calculated using the following formula, where $n$ is the number of scraps obtained so far:

Chance = 200 \times 2^{n}

There are 3 possible buffs that increase the chance for Suspicious Scrap, all of which are multiplicative.

Frozen Corpses

Suspicious Scrap can also be obtained as a drop from Frozen Corpses. This does not reduce the chance of obtaining Suspicious Scrap from mining.

Suspicious Scrap can also be purchased for 100 Fossil Essence at the Fossil Essence Shop.

Usage

Suspicious Scrap can be put into the Fossil Excavator along with a Chisel to get a variety of rewards, including Fossils, Fossil Essence, Gemstones, ᠅ Glacite Powder, Gold Essence, Diamond Essence, Enchanted Glacite, Enchanted Tungsten, Enchanted Umber, Fossil the Fish, and Paleontologist I.

Suspicious Scrap can also be salvaged for 5 Fossil Essence.
