Sand

Sand is a COMMON block in the Mining collection.

Collecting sand increases the player's Sand collection, which grants useful items and perks upon collecting certain amounts of sand.

Digging Sand grants +3 base  Mining XP.

Sand can be mined in the  Mushroom Desert. It is also possible to collect it on the  Private Island through Sand Minions, or by placing  Desert Islands or  Pond Islands, and then digging the Sand.

Sand can be bought from the Farm Merchant or Windmill Operator for 4 Coins per block, from the Builder for 2 Coins per block, or from the Bazaar.

16x Sand is a potential reward from the Treasure Hunter's buried treasure.

Sand must be placed around the  Cactus Minion for it to work and can be placed around  Sugar Cane Minion with  Water.

A  Sand Minion is crafted by placing  80 Sand around a  Wooden Shovel in a crafting table. It is also needed in a handful of recipes.

Sand can be smelted in a  Furnace or mined with a tool with Smelting Touch to obtain  Glass.

Sand can also be sold to any Merchant for 2 Coins per block.

• Until the 0.11.4 update, players weren't able to mine Sand on any public island. They had to craft a  Desert Island and mine the Sand there to get Sand collection.
• A good early-game tactic for getting  Mining XII (12) to access the  Dwarven Mines is to make an Efficiency II  Golden Shovel and mine Sand in the  Mushroom Desert.
