Crystal Hollows/Special Locations

This page contains details of the locations and structures which spawn randomly within the  Crystal Hollows.

Mechanics

Within the  Crystal Hollows, special structures spawn in random locations. The structures do not keep their coordinates between lobbies.

There are 5 Main Structures which are guaranteed to generate in the 5 main locations within the cave:

The  Jungle Temple generated in the  Jungle.
- 2 reward chests are in the goal of the parkour.
The  Mines of Divan generated in the  Mithril Deposits.
The  Goblin Queen's Den generated in the  Goblin Holdout.
- 2 chests are here: one at the bottom-southwest of the entire structure, one on a wooden platform in a space with the entrance at the north.
The  Lost Precursor City generated in the  Precursor Remnants.
 Khazad-dûm generated in the  Magma Fields.

Each of the 5 main structures houses their respective Crystal. A special task must be completed to obtain each Crystal.

Sometimes, possibly due to a bug, the  Jungle Temple, the  Mines of Divan, and the  Lost Precursor City may fail to spawn, as well as the  Jungle Temple may overlap with other structures, causing the parkour to be unbeatable, however the entrance to the parkour will stay open until completed, even when changing lobbies.

Certain special structures are also guaranteed to spawn in each server:

The Goblin King Tower in the  Goblin Holdout
The Jungle Village in the  Jungle
3  Fairy Grottos anywhere within the Hollows
- Only one will have the zone name, which allow fishing up Fairy Souls from its water.

Treasure chests generate in some of the structures. Similarly to Dungeon Secrets, they always generate in the same places. See Crystal Hollows#Treasure for a list of possible loot.

Certain structures can generate anywhere within the  Crystal Hollows, whereas some structures can only generate in a specific region.

Trapped Throne	This room has 2 arrow traps guarding one treasure chest.	1
Dragon Skull	This room resembles the dragon skull from the Spider's Den. There is one treasure chest inside the skull's mouth. There is another chest in a small cavern beneath the structure.	2
Tavern	This room is a replica of the Tavern from the Hub Island before the Bartender's Brewery City Project was released.	0
Caravan	A caravan with a fireplace and log pile. There is one treasure chest inside the van.	1
Tiny Hut	This place is a replica of a map in the game: the walls, this tiny hut is inside a hill is equipped with some furniture and a bed. There is a treasure chest behind the fireplace inside the hut.	1
Dark Auction Room	This room is a replica of the Dark Auction's interior design.	0
Underground Spring	This structure seems to be a spring. There is one treasure chest at the bottom of the spring.	1
Underground Office	This structure appears to be an office. There are two treasure chests, one in the office room at southeast and one in the "hanger" room at southwest.	2
Water Hall	A hall with a grid of water. There is a treasure chest at the front of the hall.	1
Colosseum	A round room with 8 smaller rooms in it. 4 rooms are some sort of storage room and the other 4 have 2 desks in each room. 1 room has its desk replaced with a chest.	1
Spider's Den	A small version of the Spider's Den tower, filled with cobwebs. One chest is located at the corner of bottom layer. A second chest is the top near skeleton-styled armor stands.	2
Abandoned Lift	An abandoned elevator lift, similar to the one the Lift Operator stands near in the Deep Caverns/Dwarven Mines. A chest is on the Redstone Pigman layer.	1
Ruins	A large ruined building. One chest can be found on the bottom floor, and a second chest is on the top (3rd) floor.	2
Ruby Minetrack	A small broken minetrack with a large wood cover over it. Rubies are emerging from all the walls around it. There is one chest inside the cave below the minetrack.	1
Ruby Bridge	A wooden bridge over a deep ravine, with rubies emerging from all over the walls. A waterfall falls from the ceiling on one side of the bridge. A chest is located on the bridge itself.	1
Red Puzzle Tower	A puzzle structure related to skulls. The puzzle is broken and does not work. There is supposed to be one treasure chest which appears when completing the puzzle. It was once removed on July 20, 2021 and then re-added in v0.19.6, however the puzzle is still defective.	0
Canvas Room	This room has a big wool wall at its front which seems to be a big canvas.	0

Jungle Structures

Name	Description
Jungle Village	A village home to Kalhuiki Tribe Members and Odawa. It is the only place Kalhuiki Younglings and Kalhuiki Elders can spawn.	0
Key Guardian Tower	This tower is 1 of 2 places where the Key Guardian can spawn. Besides the Key Guardian and the Kalhuiki Tribe Members that spawn to protect him, there is a treasure chest at the top of the tower.	1
Key Guardian Tower 2	This temple is 1 of 2 places where the Key Guardian can spawn. Besides the Key Guardian and the Kalhuiki Tribe Members that spawn to protect him, there is a treasure chest in the middle of the temple, as well as another chest on the top floor sealed by Granite. Also at the entrance there is a floor that falls down when you stand on it, leading to an area with multiple Sludge spawn points.	2
Jungle Lagoon Pillars	This pocket contains a large number of Sludges and rim of land surrounding a lake, also large pieces of land connecting the ceiling to the room in the middle. There is 1 chest in the pond, under two waterfalls near the granite pillars.	1
Purple Tree	A purple tree surrounded by water with a treasure in the middle. A second treasure chest sits in a small structure to the top left of the tree.	2
Miniature Jungle Temple	A smaller version of the Jungle Temple, including parkour and arrow traps, as well as flamethrower traps on the floor. There are two chests: one can be found in the middle way between the top and the bottom, one is hidden in leaves near the arrow traps. Many Sludge spawn points can be found all the way except inside the stone brick structures.	2
Small Temple	A small temple with 1 chest in the middle of it.	1
Jungle Lagoon Island	A small room with a lagoon taking up almost the entire floor, apart from a small rim of land around the edge and a small island in the middle. Some leaf "bridges" are connecting the outer walls of the room to the island.	1
Jungle Lagoon Temple	A cute little granite temple on a spire of land raised out of a lagoon. This may be mistaken for the key guardian room at first, but this room is smaller and isn't as lush.	1
Stuck Sludge	A large Sludge NPC is stuck inside of a small temple-like structure. By killing the Sludge you split it into two smaller units, freeing the Sludge and giving it a "lover".	1
Crystal Tree	A small room with a tree in the middle. This tree has amethyst crystals hanging from it. Sludges also spawn here more often. There is 1 chest on the top of the tree.	1
Jungle Bridges	A large area with a hill in the middle of it connecting with bridges to the sides of the room. 1 bridge is straight the other diagonal. There is also a lot of pillars and a diagonal staircase. A good amount of sludges spawn here. There is one chest in a small cave off of one of the diagonals.	1
Kalhuiki Lair	A small, donut-shaped area full of Kalhuiki Tribe Members. There is a chest on a ledge at the southeast corner.	1
Large Jungle Cavern	Tall open space with a single two-story building on the north side and several ledges connected by leaf vines. One chest is on the roof face of the upper part of the building. The other is positioned between two pillars on the top ledge in the southeast.	2
Jungle Lagoon Spiral	A large spiral area with a lagoon at the bottom and a lot of Sludge spawn points all the way on the spiral passage. All chests are in the center of the room each at different elevations surrounded by roses.	3
Jungle Gorge	A complex area with several Kalhuiki Tribe Member spawn points. A chest is in a cave at the west of higher part, another is on the highest ledge at the southeast.	2
Tiny Pond	A small area with a pond and a Sludge spawn point. A chest is in a hidden room atop an waterfall.	1
Jungle Luxuriant Cavern	A medium-sized area with leaves in high density along with some Sludge spawning. A chest is hidden in some leaves hanging high on the wall at the south-southwest.	1
Jungle Valley	A narrow valley with a "river" at the bottom. A chest is hidden under some leaves at the east end of the water.	1
Sludge Cavern	An area containing a medium-sized space and a tortuous tunnel, of which the entrance of the tunnel is at the northeast of the space. A chest is on the boulder in the center of the space, another is at the very end of the tunnel.	2

Mithril Deposits Structures

Name	Description
Dragon's Lair	A place where you can buy the Golden Dragon Pet when you click on the eggs that lay in front of the dragon. There are 3 chests in this room. One next to the eggs, one in a gravel pile at one end of the bridge, and the other one at the top of the southeast corner of the room.	3
Miniature Forge	This room resembles a miniature version of The Forge including a working Forger NPC. There is a treasure chest inside the forge opposite the NPC.	1
Ancient Dwarf	This structure seems to be a monument of an ancient dwarf. There are 2 treasure chests, one behind the dwarf's hammer and one in a hole at right side.	2
Corleone Hideout	A small lobby with Jade in the middle. This is one of 2 Boss Corleone spawning spots. He spawns in a dirt hole behind a cobblestone blob. There are also 2 Crypts, both of them will reveal a hidden chest if blown up.	2
Granite Walkway	A small room with a granite floor, pillars and wooden platform. A big pile of gravel containing 3 chests is at one end.	3
Jade Pedestal	A small room with a tiny version of Jade Crystal in the middle. There is a chest buried in the wall at the southwest corner.	1
Corleone Lakefront	A lakefront Team Treasurite facility. This is one of 2 Boss Corleone spawning spots. He spawns beneath the wooden wall. There are 2 chests, one to the left of Corleone, another on a high platform next to some Emeralds.	2
Team Treasurite Rail Crossing	A Team Treasurite facility with many cart tracks. There is 1 treasure chest at the end of the track at the top layer. And 1 on the end of the bridge in a room.	2
Team Treasurite Waterfall	A Team Treasurite facility with rails, a bridge and 2 waterfalls. There are 3 treasure chests, 1 in a raised space to the south of the rails, 1 at the top of a waterfall on the west side, 1 inside an enclosed hollow to the east of the first chest.	3
Crystal Train	Two granite minecarts carrying crystals on a rail. Each minecart holds a chest.	2
Treasure Deposits	A room with a layer of gold at the bottom and crystals sticking out of it. Two chests are buried under the gold.	2
Layered Mineshaft	A very big mineshaft with many platforms stacked and layered over each other. Minecarts and tracks can be found near the ends of the shafts, and many smaller rooms offshoot from the main stacked platform area. There are 4 chests, one on the small raised platform in an offshoot room, one hidden in the ores within a minecart, one in a room with an anvil and an armor stand, one is hidden behind some iron ores at an dead end.	4
Ruined Forge	A small room with two opening in the middle and a cracked forge leaking lava on one side. A hopper-like structure can be found in an otherwise empty room. Each opening leads to a small area below it; one leads to a tiny dirt hole and the other leads to a short minetrack. there is 1 chest in the hopper-like structure.	1
Boulder Room	A small room with many boulders in the wall and floor. A large root is connecting the boulder on the floor to the wall. There is 1 chest on top of the floor boulder.	1
Minecart Storage	A large hall with many empty minecarts stored in holes on the wall. There is one chest on a high platform at the northeast.	1
Crashed Minecart	A small space containing a broken railway on upper layer and a crashed minecart stuck in a puddle on lower layer. A chest is inside the minecart.	1
Double Railways	A small space containing two railways, of which the north one is broken. A chest is inside a minecart made of stone bricks on the south railway.	1

Goblin Holdout Structures

Name	Description
The 3 Bears Fireplace	Main article: Three Bears Once right-click on one of the NPCs Ede, Keith, or Pete, they will start telling you a story about a little bear who ran away from her parents into an old cabin in the woods. At the end of the story, all of them will become bears and give the player blindness for 3 seconds. Once the blindness is over the bears will disappear.	0
Goblin King Tower	This tower is the residing place of King Yolkar. Strong Goblins spawn in the pit beneath him. There are 2 treasure chests on the layers above and below him.	2
Deep Goblin Lair	A large dwarven hall infested with Goblin civilization. Strong goblins spawn on the wooden platforms and on the floor of the hall. There are at least 3 treasure chests: one on the highest platform, one within the lair beneath a hanging wood object, and one in a cave near the bottom of the ravine, in a room with soul sand.	3
Goblin Gold Stash	A small stash of Goblin gold. There are 2 treasure chests, one beside the gold piles, and another in a tent in the pit.	2
Goblin Sewer Camp	This structure has what appears to be a sewer tunnel and a tent near it. There is one treasure chest behind the sewer gate.	1
Goblin Wide Pit	A wide pit where Goblins reside, with a fire at the bottom and some shelter higher up. There is a chest behind the pillar.	1
Goblin Lava Spiral Ramp	A tall structure with a wide lava pit at the bottom. There is at least 1 treasure chest, which is within a cage at the top.	1
Giant Campfire	A campfire-shaped gemstone ore vein is in the middle of a goblin camp. This is the only Topaz ores in structures outside Magma Fields . There is one chest near red banners at the top of the room.	1
Hanging Drill	A room with a nature arch and a hanging huge drill under it. The room has one chest on top of the arch.	1
Goblin Mineshaft	An area with 9 skulls on single fences at one place, a natural staircase, and a good looking mineshaft at the bottom with a chest at the end. There is another chest at the southwest on a platform at the top, behind a pile of gold.	2
Xalx's Lair	A gorge with multiple offshoot tunnels. Xalx can be found near a campfire at the southeast. There are two gold deposits sealed by fences, each contains a chest inside. The 3rd chest is in the middle of this gorge, which can be accessed from the northeast space without mining up a block.	3
Goblin Lava Pit	A small structure with a lava pit in the middle and a fire pit at its west side. The chest is inside a hidden prison at the northwest, behind some spruce fences.	1
Goblin Treasure Tower	A large structure with a big natural stone pillar in the middle. The stone pillar works as a two-floor treasure house, each floor contains some gold blocks and a chest.	2
Goblin Campfire Pillar	A small space with spiral plank passage on the wall and some roasted quartz ores at the top of a stone pillar at the center. There is a chest buried inside the lower part of the stone pillar.	1
Goblin Tent	A medium-sized area with a green tent near several soul sand pockets. A chest is under the green tent, and another is upstairs at the northeast.	2
Goblin Red Pillar Bridge	A large area with a high railway supported by red pillars, also some green tents with gold blocks underneath. The chest is either absent or yet to be found.	0

Precursor Remnants Structures

Name	Description
Big Automaton	This structure seems to be a big head of an Automaton. There is one treasure chest inside its right eye, and one in a small ravine.	2
Precursor Lava Orb	An orb of lava floating above a group of small huts. There are 2 treasure chests within the lava orb.	2
Wooden Door Passage	A small room with a small slope and 2 doors on two sides. There is a chest behind the door that is the highest on the slope.	1
Precursor Tower	A room with a tower in the middle and a staircase that goes down to a small pond. A chest is under the stairs inside the tower, and another is in the pond at the bottom.	2
Precursor Stone Arch	A square room split by an arch into east part and west part. There is a chest above the small stairs at the southeast.	1
Colored Skull Puzzle	Around this puzzle's area, there are 3 colored skulls (red, blue, and yellow). If every skull is right-clicked in a short time, a chest will appear in a small room requiring Superboom TNT or other explosives to access.	1
Precursor Trap Labyrinth	A multilayered structure full of traps. There is a ravine filled with lava, a vertical structures full of arrow dispensers with a square lava pool at the bottom, and many dispensers and some fire traps. This structure was popular as lava fishing spots prior the Crimson Isle update. One chest is in the middle of the square lava pool at the bottom of northeast, one is covered by leaves in the top layer, and one is in a small area to the south of the lava pool.	3
Precursor Trapped Stairs	A large hollow with a lot of stairs, several stone brick arches, and some tripwire traps. One chest is on a high ledge at southwest corner, one is on a small platform at the northwest corner, and one is inside a cave in the lower part of northeast corner.	3
Precursor Tall Pillars	A large, complex cavern with several diorite pillars of over 20 blocks. A chest is on a high dirt ledge at the south, another is on a cobblestone floor at the lower part of northeast.	2
Precursor Throne Hall	A structure containing stairs, arches, and thrones, along with an incredible amount of Sapphire ore veins. This is the structure with the most Gemstone ores which can be mined by Armadillo Pet. Two chests are inside two hidden rooms: one is behind a cave, of which the entrance is at the middle-east part blocked by some leaves and a skull; another is located at the lower part of southwest, which contains a pitfall and some arrow dispensers.	2
Precursor Spiral Cave	A structure with two different parts: a hall full of traps and a spiral cave with a cracked wall blocking the way. A chest is in the middle of arrow traps in the hall, and another is at the top end of the cave.	2
Precursor Stone Bridge	A medium-sized area containing a wide stone bridge with diorite pillars underneath. A chest is on the top platform at the northeast.	1
Precursor Diorite Pillars	A small area with 6 pillars made of diorite and stone slabs. The only chest is in an inconspicuous hole at the northeast corner.	1
Precursor Square Hall	A square area with corridors surrounding its lower central part. A chest is on a small pedestal at the very center.	1
Precursor Diorite Corridor	A small area with 8 diorite pillars forming a corridor-like structure. A chest is clearly visible at very center.	1
Precursor Trapped Pillars	A small area containing 4 well-decorated pillars surrounding a chest at the center, along with some arrow traps on the ceiling guarding the chest.	1
Precursor Trapped Dungeon	A medium-sized dungeon-like structure with many arrow traps. A chest is behind some broken iron bars at the end.	1
Precursor Pitfall Corridor	A small corridor which has falling floor on surface and dispenser traps underneath. A chest is inside a tiny chamber at the southeast corner, of which entrance is below the falling floor.	1
Precursor Tripwire Chamber	A small space split to east and west parts by a tripwire, also an arrow trap is at the southwest corner. A chest is at the southeast corner.	1
Giant Diorite Bars	A small space with a large diorite structure in the shape of "#" but with 3 bars of each direction. A chest is at the northeast, on the top of a small slope.	1

Magma Fields Structures

Name	Description
Magma Temple	This structure has one treasure chest in the middle and lava around its windows. There is an additional chest on the layer above.	2
Magma Pools	A flat area with many lava pools, like a miniature Khazad-dûm. A chest is hidden under a lava pool to the northwest of the center, where cross-shaped lava flow can be seen from above.	1
Magma Mineshaft	Starts with a stone bridge over lava on one end before transitioning to a wooden mineshaft after it reaches the inside of the cave. There is a room behind lava, which is similar to The Forge and other lava features in the Forge Basin. There are multiple levels inside of the wooden part. There is a chest under the spruce floor that is level with the bridge. Another chest is behind a cracked wall, which must be reached by digging the full blocks at the side instead of the cracked blocks.	2
Magma Lavafalls	A chaotic structure with 2 organic levels of stone along the wall, with many pockets of lava and lavafalls throughout. A much larger lava lake fills in the center of the base level. A chest is at the northeast end of the area, on a small natural platform between the two levels. Another chest is inside a small cave at the middle north on the base level, where the entrance is flooded by lava.	2
Magma Spiral Cavern	A large area which can be separated to 3 parts: a large cave at the base flooded by lava with some small rocks in its surface, a natural spiral of cobblestone wrapping around the walls leading up, and a ledge at the west part right above the lava pool. A chest at the southeast end of the lava pool, and another is at the top of the spiral, in a small cave at the southwest.	2
Magma Spiral Steps	A small spiral area containing several lavafalls from the ceiling. A chest is in a cave hidden behind the lavafall at the bottom.	1
Magma Flows	A medium-sized cave with lava pockets covering most of the flat area in each layer, as well as lava flows connecting them. A chest is hidden on the top of a lavafall at the southeast.	1
Magma Lake of the Rings	A round area filled with lava. There is a small island in the center, with a chest and several topaz spikes on it. Throwing an Eternal Flame Ring into the lava will get 64x Rough Topaz Gemstone in return. This is the reference of Mount Doom in The Lord of the Rings.	1
Magma Plank Bridge	A small area containing two ledges at south and north sides, connected by an oak slab bridge. There is a spawn spot of Automaton on the north ledge. A chest is hidden under a pile of coal ores on the south ledge.	1
Magma Wide Staircase	A medium-sized area with a wide staircase at its southeast. A chest is in a hole behind the stone near the staircase, and another chest is at the lower part of the northwest.	2
Magma Ravine	A small, narrow ravine with a tiny ledge to its north. A chest is on the ledge.	1
Magma Stone Bridge	A wide stone bridge standing above a lava pool. A chest is on a rock under the bridge.	1
Magma High Railway	A large area with a high railway and the lava version of "travertine terraces". A chest is in a tiny hidden cave northwest of the bottom, of which the entrance is behind a lava pond near the center. A second chest is located in a small cave at the top of the northeastern lava fall.	2
Magma Pit Cave	A vertical space containing an extremely high lavafall and several lava ponds in all 4 layers. A chest is inside a hole on a stone pillar, which can be accessed from the second-highest platform.	1
Magma Crescent Pool	A small cave with a cobblestone platform at the center and a crescent-shaped lava pool at the south. A chest is at the lower end of northwest.	1
Magma Ring-shaped Pool	A ring-shaped area flooded by lava. A chest is inside a cave in the center.	1
Magma Gully	A short diagonal stretch of lava pools with two small, raised pools on either side. There is a chest in a cave under the southeastern pool.	1
Magma Creek	A large cave which contains two layers where a long lava creek flows through most parts, also with many lavafalls and plunge pools. A chest is hidden atop a waterfall in the northwest part of top layer.	1

Fairy Grotto Structures

Butterflies spawn inside the Fairy Grotto areas. Every Grotto contains at least one chest.

Shrine	A large, open area with a big crystal in the middle, a narrow spiral path on the walls, and a small altar on the top floor. Butterflies spawn on top of the shrine-like structure. This area has two chests, one in the sealed chamber right below the crystal (mine under the crystal) and one on the altar on the top floor.	2	86	117	Yes

Overgrown	A combination of two separated valleys and two hidden caves, one valley with some platforms and a Yog spawn point, another valley with a pond and some stone brick structures. Vines and leaves cover the whole area. There is one chest on the end of each valley, a chest in a small cave hidden behind some leaves in the Yog valley, and a chest in a hidden room connected to the pond by an underwater tunnel.	4	171	53	Yes

Trivia

There are non-random structures generated as a part of the tunnels. Those structures may look like special locations as listed above at first glance, however they don't have any special properties, nor do they contain chests.
Prior v0.19.4, "Palace" was the best type of grotto for jasper mining, which is then surpassed by "Mansion" variant due to the change of Gemstone drop amount from the Glass Panes.
