Midas' Sword

The Midas' Sword is a LEGENDARY Sword that can be obtained from the Dark Auction. It increases in power as more Coins are spent on it by the player, maxing at 50M Coins (or 250M Coins when upgraded).

Obtaining

Dark Auction

The Midas' Sword can be obtained from the Dark Auction round 1, 3 or 4, costing a minimum of 100k Coins to purchase.

When purchased from the Dark Auction, it gains a Damage and Strength bonus based on how much the winner paid for it. The maximum possible buff is +120 Damage and +120 Strength at 50,000,000 Coins paid. For the fragged version, it is +225 Damage and +225 Strength at 250,000,000 Coins paid.

The output is added to the base damage of 150 and the base strength of 0 to produce the stats of the sword, where the base price for the Midas' Sword is 100,000 Coins.

A Golden Dragon Pet also buffs the ability by up to 10%.

Upgrading

The Midas' Sword can be upgraded to the  Midas' Sword with 8 Golden Fragments, allowing the price paid to be increased to 250,000,000 Coins.

This weapon can be upgraded using Gold Essence. Once converted, it requires Catacombs XVII (17) to use while in Dungeons.

Trivia

The minimum price required to gain the maximum stat buff without using Zarina is 50,040,000 Coins, or 250,520,000 Coins for the fragged version.
- It is possible to increase the price paid at Zarina after the fact, however this has an additional cost of 3 Stock of Stonks.
There are a few Midas' Swords with price paid values not possible through the Dark Auction.
- 5[MVP+] Mynetrix received a Midas' Sword with exactly 50,000,000 Coins coins paid.^[2]^[3]
- 55[ዞ] TimeDeo owns a Midas' Sword with 1 Coin paid, granted to him by an admin.^[4]^[5]
- 7[YOUTUBE] Pigicial owns a Midas' Sword with 49,999,999 Coins paid.^[6]
The highest possible bid on a Midas' Sword is 2,146,000,000 Coins, which is just 1,483,647 Coins shy of the 32-bit integer limit.
- Due to the Dark Auction having fixed bid increments, the next bid option would be a negative amount of coins, which cannot be chosen because it is lower than the highest bid.
- It is not possible to increase the price paid for a Midas' Sword beyond 250,000,000 Coins using Zarina.
This sword is a reference to King Midas, a figure from Greek mythology. He was granted one wish and to pick to turn everything he touched to gold. When he killed his daughter by turning her to gold, he realized he had been blinded by greed, which this sword's ability references.
- The Midas Staff and King Midas miniboss also reference him.
The Gilded reforge can be applied to this sword using a Midas Jewel, increasing its Damage and Strength, and granting it a small chance to grant coins to nearby players upon killing mobs.
In the past, when One For All buffed weapon base damage, it did not work on the bonus damage provided by the Greed ability.
