A Groundhog has a 15% (1 in 6.67 gifts) chance to spawn when breaking a tree and obtaining its Tree Gift on the Torrhus Canyon. This chance can be increased to 22.5% (1 in 4.44 gifts) with the Tree Lurker attribute.

Groundhogs slowly move around. If a player throws a Lasso at it, it angers it, causing the Groundhog to attack and lure in the player towards them.
