Heart of the Forest

The Heart of the Forest, commonly abbreviated as HotF, is a Skill Tree related to  Foraging. Leveling it awards Tokens of the Forest, which can be spent on various Perks found within the tree.

The Heart of the Forest is unlocked by completing the Heart of the Forest quest from Hina in  Tangleburg's Path, which requires finishing talking to her and indirectly reaching  Foraging XII (12).

As players tier up their Heart of the Forest, they will gain Tokens of the Forest, which can be used to unlock various perks. Some of these perks will take effect only on Public Islands with a special mining mechanism (alongside an infinite Mining Fatigue effect).

• The menu can be accessed :
  • via the /hotf command (anywhere)
  • via the  Foraging menu (anywhere),
  • via the  SkyBlock Menu (while on  Galatea, in other words at the  Moonglade Marsh and  Torrhus Canyon).

• Players can tier up their Heart of the Forest by gaining  HotF EXP, which can be accumulated by:
  • opening Tree Gifts on  Galatea;
  • participating in a Starlyn Contest:

    • Depending on their respective Point Brackets, they grant 100-750  HotF EXP at the  Moonglade Marsh and 150-900  HotF EXP on the  Torrhus Canyon.
    • The player can participate in both of their variants at the same time and reap their rewards, including  HotF EXP.
    • The first 3 daily Starlyn Contests award an additional +1200  HotF EXP. At HotF Level 8, this bonus is replaced with 1,200 Forest Whispers or Desert Whispers for Agatha's or Miria's contests.
•  HotF EXP gains can be increased by 1%→10% from the Galatea Training attribute ( Ember Shard).
• The Heart of the Forest can be reset. This reverts all perk purchases and reimburses all spent Forest Whispers, Desert Whispers and Tokens of the Forest.
  • Tier and Core of the Mountain levels are kept; thus powder spent on upgrading Core of the Mountain is not reimbursed.

• Heart of the Forest Tiers 2 and 6 offer 2 and 1 Axe Abilities respectively.
• They can all be unlocked on the tree at once, but only one can be selected at a time.
• They are activated with Right-Click, and have either an instant effect or a period of effect.
• They have a cooldown, which starts immediately upon activation, not at the point of the ability's conclusion.
  • The player must wait for the cooldown to expire before being able to use any other Axe Ability.
  • The cooldown is preserved across lobbies. ^[Confirm]
• They are at Level 1 by default, and are upgradeable to Level 5^[Confirm] by the following:
  • Level 1 of the Center of the Forest perk;

• They do not apply on Huntaxes.
• They do not apply at the  Hub despite the existence of Oak Trees.

All formulas describe the cost to level up once, e.g. from level 10 to 11.

• While on  Galatea, players with Half Full enabled will have ⬓ next to their name; likewise, players with Half Empty enabled will have ⬒ next to their name.
• Despite what the menu suggests, perks from the Heart of the Forest do not require certain perks to be chosen. They can be unlocked if an adjacent perk is also unlocked.
• The Iron Lungs perk could be a reference to the video game and movie Iron Lung, as both involve diving deep underwater for exploration. This, in turn, also references the medical device of the same name.
• Despite being impossible to get every single perk in the Heart of the Forest, if one were to get all of them and max each one out (including Core of the Forest), it would cost:
  • 14,767,237 Forest Whispers;
  • 52,672,500 Desert Whispers;
  • or a combined amount of 67,439,737 Desert and Forest Whispers;
  • 35 Tokens of the Forest.
