Cocooning

Cocooning is a feature that allows killed Mobs to respawn.

Upon triggering a cocoon event, three egg sacs will appear where the mob was killed, shifting for several seconds. After 6 seconds, the killed mob will reappear at full HP. Additionally, the following message will display:

The player who cocooned the mob will become its owner, regardless of the original mob's owner.

If the killed mob could spawn as Runic^[Confirm] or Corrupted, the cocooned mob will also have a chance to have those traits too. The cocooned mob acts like a naturally spawned mob, and is eligible for Bestiary, mob drops, and Slayer XP. The original mob will still be able to naturally respawn while the cocooned mob is alive.

Cocooning still works on mobs spawned from cocooning, allowing players to chain these events.

•  The Primordial grants a 10% chance to cocoon Slayer Bosses and Slayer Minibosses.
• The Bloodshot reforge grants a 2.5% chance to cocoon most non-boss mobs outside Dungeons and  Kuudra's Hollow.
• The Cocoon Chance Attribute grants an additional +5% chance to cocoon Slayer Bosses and Slayer Minibosses when using  The Primordial.

List of mobs that cannot be cocooned:^[1][2]

• Mobs in Dungeons
• Sven Pups
• Puddle Jumper
• Zombuddy
• Timestalk Clone
• Sphinx
• Siamese Lynx
• Chickzilla
• Any Dragon, including Ender Dragon, Reindrake and Withered Dragon
• Bambuleaf and Mochibear
• End Stone Protector
• Most fish shard entities, like Lotusfish or Azure
• Multi-layered mobs, like Scatha or Fire Eel ^[Confirm]
• Wiki Tiki and Wiki Tiki Laser Totem
• Jockey Skeleton
• Mobs riding other entities, like Rider of the Deep, cannot be cocooned, meaning only bottom part rolls for cocoon chance.
•  Pests^[Confirm]
• Hideonleaf
• Primordial Bat, Primordial Hatchling and Primordial Minion
• Rollim and Kaus

Mobs that can be cocooned despite being bosses include:

• Crimson Isle Minibosses and related entities, like Summoned Skulls (intended to be non-cocoonable, but this behavior is currently bugged)^[2]
• Arachne

• If the cocooned mob is a slayer boss, an additional "YOU COCOONED YOUR SLAYER BOSS" appears in chat, and the next slayer quest skips the spawning phase as if the slayer boss has already spawned.

• If the cocooned mob is a Sea Creature, the cocooned mob will not be considered as a Sea Creature and can be damaged while the player is wearing Trophy Hunter Armor. Additionally, the damage buff towards sea creatures ability on the  Flaming Flay and the  Soul Whip will also not work.

• For mobs such as the Fiery Scuttler where multiple entities belong to one single Sea Creature, all associated entities are eligible for a cocoon event. The cocoon also will spawn multiple entities instead of the single one that was cocooned.
• If the cocooned mob was a Jawbus Follower summoned by Lord Jawbus, the cocooned mob will return to its original name instead of keeping the Jawbus Follower name.
• The egg sacs bear a resemblance to the sacs that the Tarantula Broodfather spawns.
• A cocooned Phantom Spirit^[Confirm] or Timestalk Clone (while it could still be cocooned) will randomly take an Alex or Steve skin.
• While it is not normally possible to cocoon mobs in The Rift due to no # Rift-Transferable # item or other mechanic existing to do so, if the player is somehow able to wear  The Primordial in the Rift, it is able to cocoon the Riftstalker Bloodfiend.
  • This was verified on the Alpha Hypixel Network during the release of the feature with the help of Centauri.
