If the block light level next to the ice is higher than 11, the ice can melt into water. An Ice Minion will stop working if its spawning area is filled with water. This can be avoided by using an Ice Cube Ice Cube which prevents ice from melting.

Special Layouts

An Ice Minion can be made almost twice as fast by setting the biome to a cold biome and adding water sources[More Info Needed] that spread to where the minion broke ice. The water that floods the spawning area will freeze to ice. This will cause the minion to skip the generating action. However, because the freezing is random, it is not consistently twice as fast.
Make sure of the following when building this special layout:

  • The spawning area has a dry area for the minion to work normally when no water has frozen yet.
  • Some water sources have blocks above them to stop them from freezing. Otherwise if all the water freezes, the special layout stop working.
  • The water that needs to freeze is exposed to the sky. Otherwise it will not freeze.
  • Ice melting from Ice Cube Ice Cube is turned on (/islandproperties), as turning it off stops random ticks which is needed for water to freeze.

Special layouts only work when the Private Island is loaded.
