A Gravel Minion equipped with a Flint Shovel Flint Shovel collects Flint Flint.

While the island is loaded, a Gravel Minion without a Flint Shovel Flint Shovel has a 10% chance to collect Flint Flint instead of Gravel Gravel.
While the island is not loaded, it never collects flint without a Flint Shovel Flint Shovel.

Due to Gravel Gravel being affected by gravity, there needs to be a block under the air to keep the gravel in reach.

Special Layouts

A Gravel Minion can be made almost twice as fast by letting the gravel fall on a non-full block (like Sign Signs or Carpet Carpet) above a Hopper Hopper. The non-full block breaks the falling gravel and hoppers underneath can collect it. This will cause the minion to skip the mining action, but that does make the minion 10% slower[Confirm], so it is almost twice as fast.

Special layouts only work when the Private Island is loaded.
