The Night Vision Charm gives permanent Night Vision I.

Before the 0.7.9 Wardrobe Update, when a player died with the Night Vision Charm in their inventory or Accessory Bag, the Night Vision effect would stay deactivated unless the player reapplied the accessory.
Other items providing Night Vision such as Mushroom Armor and the Bat Pet overwrite this effect, causing Night Vision to be lost when their effects disappear.
The Night Vision Charm grants the player Night Vision II, although this has exactly the same effect as Night Vision I.
