The Composter is a feature in The Garden that allows the player to create Compost. The Composter takes 10 minutes to create each Compost, consuming 4000 Organic Matter and 2000 Machine Fuel per Compost continuously in the process. However, these values can be improved by upgrading the Composter.

Organic Matter

When inserted into the Composter, certain items can be converted into Organic Matter. Items cannot be taken out of the Composter once they have been inserted. 4000 Organic Matter is needed to make each Compost, excluding upgrades. The best item to buy from the Bazaar for making Organic Matter is currently Enchanted Seeds Enchanted Seeds at 11,965 Coins per 4000 Organic Matter. On ♲ Ironman profiles, Enchanted Seeds Enchanted Seeds and Box of Seeds Box of Seeds are good because visitors don't ask for Seeds.

The following table gives the Organic Matter value for all known compostable items. All Organic Matter values below are exact. For example, Potato Potatoes are worth exactly 0.33 organic matter, not 1/3. However, the amount per 4000 organic matter is rounded.

Note that a Condensed Fermento Condensed Fermento can only be used with sufficient Composter upgrades because they are worth more than the base limit of 40,000 Organic Matter.

Upgrades

There are 5 Composter Upgrades available for the Composter.

  • Composter Speed (requires  Garden II (2)): Increases Composter production speed by 20% per tier. The maximum speed is +500%, or 6x. Without the Multi Drop upgrade, each tier of this upgrade increases the Composter's production rate by 1.2 Compost per hour, worth about ??? coins before accounting for Multi Drop.
  • Multi Drop (requires  Garden IV (4)): When Compost is produced, grants a 3% chance per tier to produce an extra one. The maximum chance is 75%. Without the Composter Speed upgrade, each tier of this upgrade increases the Composter's production rate by 0.18 Compost per hour on average, worth about ??? coins.
  • Fuel Cap (requires  Garden VI (6)): Increases the maximum Machine Fuel that the Composter can hold by 30,000 per tier. Including the base value, the maximum limit is 850,000 Machine Fuel.
  • Organic Matter Cap (requires  Garden VIII (8)): Increases the maximum amount of Organic Matter that can be stored by 30,000 per tier. Including the base value, the maximum limit is 790,000 Organic Matter.
  • Cost Reduction (requires  Garden X (10)): Reduces the amount of Organic Matter and Machine Fuel required to produce Compost by 1% per tier. The maximum reduction is 25%, which results in the consumption of 3,000 Organic Matter and 1,500 Machine Fuel per Compost.

A Composter with all Composter Upgrades maxed out would produce an average of Compost 63 Compost per hour. For each hour, it would consume 108,000 Organic Matter and 54,000 Machine Fuel. It could run unattended for exactly 5 hours before running out of Organic Matter, making an average of Compost 315 Compost in that time. Even with the Organic Matter Cap upgrade maxed out, the first 6 upgrades of the Fuel Cap are enough for the Organic Matter to be depleted fully.

The total raw material cost to max out all Composter Upgrades is given below. Excluding the Copper, the raw materials would sell to Merchant NPCs for 905,685,520 Coins, and the pre-crafted materials as listed in the total row of the table would cost ??? coins at the Bazaar.

SkyBlock XP Rewards

Upgrading the composter also grants SkyBlock Experience toward your overall SkyBlock Level. The XP is awarded based on the upgrade tier range:

  • Tiers 1–7: +1 SkyBlock XP per tier
  • Tiers 8–13: +2 SkyBlock XP per tier
  • Tiers 14–19: +3 SkyBlock XP per tier
  • Tiers 20–25: +4 SkyBlock XP per tier

These XP rewards contribute to the Composter Upgrades XP Task under Ways To Level Up in the SkyBlock Levels system.
