Hello again!

Today we are back once again with a second round of testing for Torrhus Canyon and the accompanying Safari Zone. If you missed the initial round of testing, please consult THIS THREAD to get yourself up to speed with what was included in the original update, as this thread will only be going over the changes made following the feedback from the initial Alpha session.

➥ General Foraging

[edit | edit source]

Adjusted how Flexbones are caught:

    • Flexbones now have a 25% chance to replace a Treasure Catch when fishing in the Tomb Floodway. Amount of Flexbones received scales with catch tier:
      • GOOD: 1x
      • GREAT: 2-4x
      • OUTSTANDING: 8x
  • Fixed the Throwing Axe Penalty applying incorrectly
  • Added Desert Whispers, which are used for HOTF4+ and COTF4+
    • Players who currently have over 12.5m Forest Whispers will have all whispers in excess of that amount converted to Desert Whispers at a 1:1 ratio
    • Desert Whispers are gained from Torrhus Canyon, Forest Whispers are gained from the Moonglade Marsh
  • Replaced Fading Green Rune in Helix Tree Gifts with Fading Blue Rune
  • Reduced Tree Gift Milestones for all Tree types:
    • I: 10 -> 10
    • II: 50 -> 25
    • III: 250 -> 100
    • IV: 500 -> 250
    • V: 1,000 -> 500
    • VI: 2,500 -> 1,000
    • VII: 5,000 -> 2,500
  • Adjusted Helia's Chapters tasks requiring you to reach x bracket to complete instantly instead of requiring contest reward claim
  • Replaced 1x Helixis in Helix Chopper recipe with 8x Flexbone
  • Added Stretching Sticks to the Moonglade Marsh section of the Bazaar
  • Adjusted HOTF XP awarded by each Tree Gift Type:
    • Fig: 10 -> 10
    • Mangrove: 10 -> 15
    • Helix: 10 -> 20
  • Ruby Veilshrooms and Sea Lumies now give Foraging XP
  • Adjusted Jade Dragon Cost:
    • Figstone: 100 -> 64
    • Mangcore: 100 -> 64
    • Helixis: 0 -> 64
      • Added Common Hunting Wisdom Boosters to Rosemary's Shop for 250 Forest Essence

Adjusted Tree toughness:

    • Fig: 7 -> 10
    • Mangrove: 50 -> 50
    • Helix: 200 -> 200
  • Adjusted Tree NPC Prices in accordance with Toughness:
    • ig: 7 -> 3
    • Mangrove: 8 -> 15
    • Helix: 9 -> 60
      • The goal here is, as we wish to do with Mining, to make later-game areas more profitable to NPC than early-game ones. Fig being meta dissuaded new players from exploring deeper into Galatea - we will continue to monitor how these changes affect the Foraging MMM meta.

Adjusted Foraging XP in accordance with Toughness:

    • Fig: 1,000 -> 100
    • Mangrove: 1,250 -> 500

    • Lottery HOTF4: +5% Sweep -> +10 Sweep

► Bestiary Reductions

[edit | edit source]

Following the conclusion of the recent SkyBlock Designer Q&A, we have had a lot of discussions about the place of the Bestiary within SkyBlock. Since its initial release as part of SkyBlock 0.11.2, the Bestiary has been through several permutations - starting off as something that was borderline impossible to max but, with the introduction of SkyBlock XP, slowly transitioned into something that was more feasible to complete.

➥ Bestiary Issues

[edit | edit source]

However, there were still many problems with the Bestiary that quickly became apparent to anyone trying to max it:

  1. The Bestiary is usually the last aspect of a piece of content that you will max out - it inflates how long you need to play a piece of content for.
  2. Early-game Bestiaries (e.g. Lapis Zombie) were inherently unhealthy due to forcing veterans to compete with new players for kills.
  3. While some Bestiaries had been modernized and weren't actually too difficult, there were many outliers that still demanded far too much player time.
  4. By the time you max out a Bestiary, getting all of its rewards, you're completely done with that content, so you never get to reap the bonus Magic Find, Coins, XP Orbs, and other rewards on that mob.

➥ Resulting Bestiary Reductions

[edit | edit source]

As a result of the issues identified above, we have made the decision to slash Bestiaries across the game by a massive amount. Some examples of the type of changes you can expect to see include:

  1. Lapis Zombie decreased from 3,000 -> 200
  2. Lonely Spider decreased from 25,000 -> 4,000
  3. Butterfly reduced from 1,000 -> 100
  4. COMMON Sea Creatures decreased from various -> 1,000
  5. MYTHIC Sea Creatures decreased from 100 -> 50

➥ Changing Our Bestiary Philosophy

[edit | edit source]

Going forward, Bestiaries will be designed to be more lenient - we will look to reach a sweet spot where players max Bestiaries at a reasonable point in an area of content so that they can feel the impact of the Bestiary rewards (the bonus Magic Find especially) as they continue to play, especially for areas of content with rarer mobs that have RNG drops, such as MYTHIC Sea Creatures.

We apologize to anyone who ended up taking the time to grind out an older Bestiary just for it to be slashed - we will be more mindful when designing Bestiaries going forwards and the reduced brackets should make things significantly more reasonable by default (for example, all COMMON Sea Creatures now being moved into the same 1,000 kills to max bracket makes it substantially simpler next time we release a new common instead of us having to decide between 1,000, 4,000, or 10,000 kills to max).

► Texture Adjustments

[edit | edit source]

Outside of adding textures for the vast amount of Torrhus Canyon items/mobs that were missing them, we have also adjusted the textures for the following items following community feedback:

  • Aspect of the Void
  • Terminator

And that's all we have for you today! We hope you have a great time testing - please remember to report any bugs you encounter HERE, being sure to select "alpha.hypixel.net".
