Banner
WALL_BANNERThe Banner is an outdated item that was previously obtained using bugs and exploits. Normal banners are not craftable. It disappears from the inventory when traveling servers and interacting with it in menus. It has an interesting effect upon how the game renders in certain versions.
Properties
[edit | edit source]Banners were obtainable through 2 main methods. The first one was breaking the banners in the Hub with the Telekinesis enchant while in an unprotected Dark Auction lobby. The second method was when the Traveling Zoo was first introduced, which cause the stands to spawn on player's islands, allowing them to break the banners.
Because the type of banner you were able to obtain was specific to post-flattening (1.13+) versions (WALL_BANNER), 1.8 couldn't render them and would crash if seeing a banner inside a GUI, or have interesting results when another player held it.The texture for these items in 1.8 clients' GUIs was later changed to a stone block, but holding it would still reveal a banner to other players. Due to some glitches, banners became reasonably common, though they later became blacklisted to prevent game crashes. This makes them incredibly hard to transfer, and they will delete upon changing servers.[1]
Banners disappear when interacted with in many different menus, so one of the best ways to ensure they don't get deleted is to place them.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- An unknown update allowed for banner ids that were previously invisible in versions of 1.8 to become visible. It is unknown why these changes came into effect.
- TimeDeo's video showed the NBT data of one of the banners at the end of his "how i lost 800,000,000 coins" video.[2] As every other item in SkyBlock, the data includes
ExtraAttributes:{id:"WALL_BANNER"}, which classifies the item as wall banner (which, in vanilla, does not exist). ExtraAttributes is not used by Minecraft, but the plugins that the server runs on, which instructs the plugins to display that item in the player's inventory.
