► Mob Types

[edit | edit source]

Currently, it is quite difficult for a player to be able to immediately tell which mob-specific enchantments, such as Smite, Ender Slayer, etc., grant bonuses against each mob. For example, is an Endermite an ender mob, or an arthropod, or does it take bonus damage from both enchants? Opinions on this will change depending upon who you ask, since it changes with later versions of Minecraft. Similarly, it's not currently super intuitive when figuring out which mobs/sea creatures you come across in Galatea can only be damaged by axes. Thus, a simple system for players to reference was deemed necessary.

Mob Types is a system that aims to clear up this confusion for new players and allow for greater customization when creating mobs in the future. Players can now figure out which type a mob is by either looking at the symbol(s) next to its name, checking their Bestiary, or by talking to our new friend Ike in the Spider's Den.
